Actor Laurel Marsden, known for her performance on Quibi's 'Survive,' has been cast as Zoe Zimmer in the upcoming Disney+ show, Ms. Marvel.

The Hollywood Reporter reported Marsden's casting. Within the show's teenage character roster, she'll play opposite Iman Vellani as protagonist Kamala Khan and Matt Lintz as Kamala's best friend Bruno Carrelli.

Zoe debuted in the first issue of G. Willow Wilson's Ms. Marvel comic as a high school "mean girl" archetype who regularly picked on Kamala and her friend Nakia for their Muslim heritage. Kamala ultimately saved Zoe from drowning after gaining her Inhuman powers through Terrigenesis, thus marking the start of her career as the new Ms. Marvel. As the series went on, Zoe gradually came to terms with her bullying past and decided to become a better person, befriending Kamala and becoming an ally to her superhero alter ego while also coming to terms with her sexuality. Recently, however, their friendship hit a snag during the "Outlawed" storyline when Zoe admitted that she was the one who alerted C.R.A.D.L.E. to Ms. Marvel's whereabouts, albeit out of concern for Kamala's well-being after watching her fall into a coma during the event storyline's inciting incident.

Since her 2014 debut, Kamala Khan's Ms. Marvel has not only grown to become one of Marvel's most popular characters, but also been adapted to numerous non-comic mediums like the Avengers Assemble cartoon and Marvel's Avengers video game. Ms. Marvel will mark her official live-action debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following shows such as WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki and Marvel's What If...?. Vellani will also appear in the upcoming Captain Marvel 2, alongside Brie Larson's Carol Danvers and Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau.

Directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Ms. Marvel stars Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Laurel Marsden, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer and Nimra Bucha. The series will stream on Disney+ in late 2021.
