It looks like Marvel Studios' upcoming Ms. Marvel series won't be coming to Disney+ this year, at least according to a new report.

According to TVLine's Matt Webb Mitovich, "It is very safe to assume at this point that Ms. Marvel is now on track for an early 2022 premiere." This comes shortly after Marvel confirmed a late November release for the Hawkeye series starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld without explicitly mentioning when Ms. Marvel might arrive.

Production on Ms. Marvel concluded in mid-May, with the show filming its final scenes in Thailand over the span of a month. Meanwhile, a new Ms. Marvel concept art piece teased the possibility of Kamala Khan having different superpowers from her Inhuman polymorphic abilities. The art depicts a costumed Iman Vellani with her left fist covered in an unknown purple substance. It's currently unclear how this ability ties into Kamala's comic book origins or whether the show will faithfully adapt her Inhuman heritage, a species regularly explored in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the critically panned Inhumans series.

Created in 2014 by G. Willow Wilson, Kamala Khan's Ms. Marvel has since appeared in games and on animated series. Following Ms. Marvel, Vellani will star in the upcoming Phase 4 MCU film The Marvels, appearing alongside Brie Larson's Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau's Monica Rambeau. Rambeau's connection to The Marvels was previously teased during the WandaVision finale's mid-credit scene, where an undercover Skrull informs her that Nick Fury wants to see her in outer space.

Directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Ms. Marvel stars Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. The series has yet to receive a release date.
