The following contains spoilers for Ms. Marvel Season 1, Episode 6, "No Normal," now streaming on Disney+.

Ms. Marvel ended its first season with a major bombshell regarding Kamala Khan's DNA. While fans expected her to be an Inhuman because of her comic book origins, her best friend Bruno Carrelli confessed that she was a mutant. That was a major surprise -- especially since it introduced mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The finale also left viewers thinking that Kamala could be positioned as a key player in the Young Avengers. She showed leadership qualities when she and her friends handled the Department of Damage Control after they pursued her and Kamran. However, the reveal of Kamala being a mutant suggests that she could join a different superteam that would be an even better fit.

The roster of Marvel's young Champions

Kamala helped lead the Champions recently in the comics. Created by Mark Waid and Humberto Ramos in 2016, they formed after Civil War II when she, Miles Morales and Sam Alexander / Kid Nova grew disillusioned with adult superheroes. They partnered with Amadeus Cho and Viv Vision to go on missions all over the world, free to make their own choices and not be bogged down by Avengers code. The team had the time-displaced version of Scott Summers / Cyclops.

That provides the MCU a chance to introduce the Champions and make them the face of mutants. Agent Deever already established her dislike of mutants in the finale, so the Champions could take up for mutantkind. Introducing them as a team would also allow for Kamala to interact with other characters who worked with the Champions in the comics, such as Ironheart and Falcon, or younger versions of X-Men characters. In Ms. Marvel's canon, the young heroes would be able to choose their own path in society, since Kamala has support from her community in an update on Spider-Man's origins.

This would be a more nuanced approach for Kamala's character than joining the Young Avengers. If Disney+ does a Champions limited series, it would continue the coming of age story that Ms. Marvel told, but with Kamala passing her knowledge on to other heroes. It would create a revolutionary group of superheroes standing up for mutants against an oppressive government.

That storyline plays into the concept of the "other" that Ms. Marvel spoke to. It also would allow the MCU to incorporate classic X-Men themes and utilize the next generation of Marvel heroes. They would be brought together by the common purpose of protecting mutants, and Kamala would have a new purpose that fits perfectly with her revised backstory.
