Undeterred by the box-office disappointment of "Mr. Peabody & Sherman," DreamWorks is taking the 1960s cartoon classic for another spin, this time as an animated talk show.

Debuting Oct. 9 on Netflix, "The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show" features the smartest dog in the world and his boy as hosts of a late-night comedy show, broadcast from their penthouse in front of a live audience. The twist here is that, in addition to their neighbors, the guests will include famous historical figures they meet with the WABAC machine.

"Saturday Night Live" alum Chris Parnell will voice Mr. Peabody, while Max Charles will reprise his film role as Sherman.

Netflix has ordered a 13-episode first season of the 2D-animated series.
