The following article contains spoilers from Dark Crisis: Young Justice #4, on sale now from DC.

Mr. Mxyzptlk’s son, Mickey, makes his DC debut in Dark Crisis: Young Justice #4, and the newly emerged villain just so happens to be a big fan of the crime-fighting team.

Dark Crisis: Young Justice #4 comes from writer Meghan Fitzmarting, artist Laura Braga, colorists Luis Guerrero and Hi-Fi and letterer Pat Brosseau. Throughout the Dark Crisis: Young Justice series, Tim Drake/Robin, Conner Kent/Superboy and Bart Allen/Impulse have found themselves trapped inside a mysterious world that, at times, resembles their reality but, at other times, seems to be harboring something much darker. The reality's version of Cassie Sandsmark/Wonder Girl, for example, appears as a friend to the team but then later encourages them to start killing their villains. Similarly, the Justice League initially welcomed the boys only to then begin spouting off hatred in Dark Crisis: Young Justice #2. Both the Justice League and the Teen Titans take a full turn into villainry in the fourth issue of the series, as the three Young Justice members have to fight them as they continue to try and figure out a way to get home.

Introducing a New Dark Crisis Villain

As the fight continues, the team realizes the world they're in is full of memories that are slightly different from actual reality. While Impulse starts connecting the dots and realizes Mr. Mxyzptlk may be the one behind this world, Mickey comes forward and reveals himself to be the one pulling the strings. "Hi, guys!" Mickey says when introducing himself to Bart, Tim and Conner. "I'm so excited to finally meet you." As they continue conversing, Mickey further tells the team he's their "biggest fan" and that they have to "stay here" in this world or else they'll "ruin our childhood."

Mickey Mxyzptlk's debut was initially announced at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. Dark Crisis: Young Justice #5 releases Oct. 18 and promises to shed further light on Mickey's motivations. The synopsis reads, "HERE'S MICKEY! Mickey Mxyzptlk, son of Mr. Mxyzptlk, built the 'perfect world' where he and the boys of Young Justice could rule without being criticized, without having to change, without ever having to grow up. Mickey has an ugly soul and too much power. The boys of Young Justice will have to overcome their shortcomings and defeat him to get back to the DCU they know and need!"

Dark Crisis: Young Justice #4 features cover art by Guerrero and Max Dunbar and variant cover art by Serg Acuña. The issue is on sale now from DC.
