Yet another Stephen King movie adaptation is underway, with Blumhouse Productions and Netflix collaborating to adapt King's short story Mr. Harrigan's Phone.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix will be working alongside Blumhouse founder Jason Blum, Ryan Murphy (Glee, The Politician) and Carla Hacken (Hell or High Water) as producers. The movie will be directed by John Lee Hancock (The Founder), marking his second Netflix film following 2019's The Highwaymen, which starred Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson.

Released in King's 2020 novella collection If It Bleeds, Mr. Harrigan's Phone follows a boy named Craig who befriends retired billionaire Mr. Harrigan after getting a job taking care of his house. The two eventually bond over the iPhone Craig bought for Mr. Harrigan as a thank you gift. However, after Harrigan dies, Craig -- who put the phone is his pocket before the body was buried -- is shocked to realize his elderly friend is texting with him from beyond the grave.

Mr. Harrigan's Phone will mark Netflix's fourth Stephen King movie adaptation, following Gerald's Game (2017), 1922 (2017) and In the Tall Grass (2019). Director Mike Flanagan, who helmed Gerald's Game, would later go on to direct the Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House and 2019's Doctor Sleep -- a film adaptation of King's sequel to his critically acclaimed book The Shining and its own film adaptation by director Stanley Kubrick. Blumhouse will also be working with Universal Pictures on a remake of the 1984 sci-fi horror film Firestarter, based on King's 1980 book of the same name.
