To say Rogue and Gambit's honeymoon hasn't gotten off to the best start would be an understatement. The on-again/off-again couple shocked fans when they ended up tying the knot in X-Men Gold #30 instead of Kitty Pryde and Colossus, with the surprise leading into the launch of their own ongoing series, Mr. and Mrs. X.

Of course, the romantic honeymoon in space was shortlived as Kitty contacted the couple with a very important mission. This put Rogue and Gambit in conflict with the Shi'ar Empire's Imperial Guard, who were also on the hunt for the mysterious item. And if that wasn't enough chaos for one mission, toss in the Merc With a Mouth, Deadpool, for an added complication.

The item in question turned out to be an alien egg that hatched on the final pages of Mr. and Mrs. X #2, revealing a young, naked Rogue inside. If you're stunned by that news, just imagine being Rogue and looking at a version of yourself emerge from the egg. The answer to the egg's origin is finally provided in the preview of Mr. and Mrs. X #3, and it goes back to the founder of the X-Men, Professor Charles Xavier.

Just Your Typical X-Men Family Tree

As Gambit and Deadpool chase Rogue's duplicate around the spaceship, Kitty fills them in on exactly what they're dealing with. The egg is the genetically-engineered offspring of Professor X and his Lilandra Neramani, the former Majestrix of the Shi'ar Empire, making this kid a pretty big deal in the X-Men corner of the Marvel Universe.

Kitty goes on to say the child was created while both Charles and Lilandra were believed to be dead, with different factions vying to claim it because of the omega-level potential of being Charles' offspring, and as a pawn in the Shi'ar's intricate political games.

One of Lilandra's final acts was to pledge her progeny to the royal line, meaning the child would hold a claim to Gladiator's position as leader of the Shi'ar. Of course, this is probably the reason Gladiator has sent the Imperial Guard to retrieve the egg/child. As for the reason it took Rogue's form, Kitty believes it is a survival technique using the mental powers it picked up from Professor X. Since Rogue was involved in trying to keep the child safe inside the egg, it naturally took Rogue to be its protector, thus taking her shape.

There is no telling what other abilities the child may have, considering it's half-mutant-half-alien. Also, was brought back to the land of the living in Charles Soule's Astonishing X-Men, though he's not the same as he once was. Now going by X, Professor X's psyche is now inside Fantomex's body, leaving X a much shadier character who can't be trusted. One huge example of this is X mind-wiping the Astonishing X-Men team so they would forget about his existence.
