This past week featured plenty of television series primed to make their return as the final stretch of the regular 2019-2020 television season begins. Amazing Stories

Iconic filmmaker Steven Spielberg is returning to television, this time to resurrect his 1980s anthology series Amazing Stories for Apple TV+. The first trailer for the series premiered this past week. It teases different tales that will take characters on adventures full of imagination and wonder, with each of its planned five episodes featuring an all-star cast.

Amazing Stories is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. The series stars Edward Burns, Austin Stowell, Kerry Bishé, Robert Forster, Dylan O'Brien, Victoria Pedretti, Josh Holloway and Sasha Alexander. Amazing Stories premieres on Apple TV+ on March 6.

Batwoman

Defending Gotham City as Batwoman has led Kate Kane to tangle with many fearsome foes, but an upcoming episode of the Arrowverse series has her face a true creature of the night. The CW has released a promo of the series' thirteenth episode, titled "Drink Me," showing Batwoman and Luke Fox preparing to take on the vampiric villain Nocturna for a bloody showdown.

Created by Caroline Dries and developed by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Batwoman stars Ruby Rose, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott, Elizabeth Anweis and Nicole Kang. The series airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

Castlevania

In less than a month, Castlevania returns for its third season, which will reunite vampire hunters Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades and Alucard for a new, bloody adventure. The Netflix original animated series has debuted its first trailer for the new season. It shows humanity is still besieged by monsters in the wake of Dracula's defeat at the end of Season 2. With the vampire lord Carmilla and former Devil Forgemaster Isaac each plotting to fill the void left by Dracula, the war for Transylvania is poised to only escalate in the upcoming season.

Castlevania Season 2 on Netflix stars Richard Armitage as Trevor Belmont, Alejandra Reynoso as Sypha Belnades, James Callis as Alucard and Graham McTavish as Dracula. Season 3 premieres on March 5.

The Flash

One of the Scarlet Speedster's greatest foes makes their return on an upcoming episode of The Flash: Gorilla Grodd. The CW has released a promo for Season 6's thirteenth episode, titled "Grodd Friended Me," where the simian supervillain returns to Central City and approaches Barry Allen for help. Given Grodd's destructive history, Barry and Team Flash may have overestimated Grodd's sincerity as the hulking, telepathic ape resurfaces following "Crisis on Infinite Earths."

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/CT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer.

Fortnite

As one of the most popular video games in the world, Fortnite has hundreds of millions of players joining in the competitive shooter action. After debuting a new map and gameplay mechanics in Fortnite: Chapter Two this past October, the fan-favorite title is slated to receive a new season of DLC content that will add new weapons, items and other gameplay features to make things even wackier. Developer Epic Games has released a cryptic teaser heralding the eagerly anticipated season to whet gamers' appetites.

Developed by Epic Games, Fortnite: Chapter Two is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android. Season 2 is available now.

Fortnite

After the cryptic teasers, Epic Games debuted two new trailers simultaneously; one announcing the official launch of Season 2 for Fortnite: Chapter Two, bringing new characters like Deadpool into the fray; the other was a Battlepass gameplay trailer. While details on the Merc with the Mouth's inclusion in the popular video game remain under wraps for now, the stylish new additions bring Chapter Two its biggest update yet, and they're poised to keep players coming back for more.

Harley Quinn

DC Universe's latest original series saw the streaming service take its animated offerings in a decidedly more mature direction with Harley Quinn. The animated series has Harley break up with the Joker before setting out to become her own villain and join the Legion of Doom. DCU has released a promo for the first season finale, as Harley assembles a crew that apparently includes Batman in an elaborate ruse to fool the Clown Prince of Crime.

DC Universe's Harley Quinn stars Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Diedrich Bader, Alan Tudyk, Rahul Kohli, Christopher Meloni, Tony Hale, Ron Funches, Wanda Sykes, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander and J.B. Smoove. New episodes are released on Fridays.

HBO Max

As the streaming wars intensify, WarnerMedia has started to hype its own premium streaming service: this spring's HBO Max. The upcoming digital platform released a series of teasers online, highlighting its extensive library of feature films like Wonder Woman and Godzilla: King of the Monsters and beloved televisions series like Friends and The Big Bang Theory.

HBO Max is expected to launch this May.

Hunters

One of the most high profile Amazon Prime Video original series debuting in 2020 is Hunters, executive produced by Jordan Peele. The series follows a team that tracks down Nazis hidden among the American population in the 1970s who are plotting to build a Fourth Reich from the shadows. Featuring an all-star cast, the series released a no-holds-barred red band trailer showcasing the upcoming television series' more hard-edged content.

Created by David Weil (Moonfall) and produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Sonar Entertainment, Hunters stars Al Pacino, Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Josh Radnor, Kate Mulvany, Tiffany Boone, Greg Austin, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, Dylan Baker and Lena Olin. The series premieres on Prime Video February 21 2020.

I Am Not Okay With This

An upcoming Netflix original series, I Am Not Okay With This, blends coming-of-age teenage drama with burgeoning superpowers. The series' first trailer shows a high schooler coming to terms with her powerful telekinetic abilities as she tries to find her place and romance while navigating the daily emotional rollercoaster that is high school.

Debuting February 26, 2020, on Netflix, I Am Not Okay With This is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Charles Forsman (The End of the F***king World). The series is produced by Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F***king World) and Christy Hall (Stranger Things) and directed by Entwistle. The series stars Sophia Lillis as Sydney, Sofia Bryant as Dina, Wyatt Oleff as Stanley Barber and Kathleen Rose Perkins as Maggie.

Legends of Tomorrow

In Season 5 of Legends of Tomorrow souls are being brought back from Hell following "Crisis." Referred to as Encores, they wreck havoc across the space-time continuum. The latest promo, for the season's fifth episode cheekily titled "Mortal Khanbat," has the team arrive in 1990s Hong Kong where the Mongolian conqueror  Genghis Khan has resurfaced as a powerful crime lord.

Airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, DC's Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Brandon Routh, Nick Zano, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Jes Macallan and Courtney Ford.

Marvel's Avengers

One of the most buzzed-about video games of the year is Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' superhero title Marvel's Avengers. While the game was recently delayed until September to give the development team more time to polish the final product ahead of its debut, a new trailer showing heroes like Ms. Marvel and the Hulk in action was released that also unveiled preorder bonuses.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix, Marvel's Avengers features Nolan North as Iron Man, Troy Baker as Bruce Banner, Laura Bailey as Black Widow, Jeff Schine as Captain America, Travis Willingham as Thor and Sandra Saad as Kamala Khan. The game arrives Sept. 4 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising

As one of the most beloved anime franchises currently on the air, My Hero Academia is about to follow-up the main series' success with its second feature-length film, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising. The film will have a limited theatrical run in North America in both the subtitled and dubbed language formats. In the film, Deku and his friends face a new, masked villain while on a class trip. The English-language dub has received its own official trailer ahead of the anime film's American release.

Directed by Kenji Nagasaki, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising opens in theaters Feb. 26 in North America and the U.K., in both subtitled and dubbed formats.

No Time to Die

This past week marked the debut of No Time to Die's official theme song, a title track performed and co-written by Grammy Award-winning singer Billie Eilish. While the full song received its own standalone release, a new promo for the upcoming James Bond film set to an excerpt from the track dropped shortly thereafter.

Directed and co-written by Cary Fukunaga, No Time to Die stars Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear, Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright, Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah, David Dencik, Lashana Lynch, Billy Magnussen, Christoph Waltz and Rami Malek. It is scheduled for release on April 8, 2020.

No Time to Die

To capitalize on the momentum of its title track's unveiling, No Time to Die released a second promo this past week, which aired during the NBA All-Star Game. The latest promo is considerably more action-packed with 007 emerging from a self-imposed retirement to take on a new villain portrayed by Rami Malek as the fate of the free world hangs in the balance.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels

After three seasons set in Victorian London, a new Penny Dreadful series is premiering this April that will bring its signature supernatural horror stateside. The follow-up series, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, takes place in 1930s Los Angeles. A new promo features its cast while incorporating elements of Mexican folklore into the bloody proceedings as the city is rocked by a gruesome murder.

Created, written and executive produced by John Logan, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels stars Daniel Zovatto, Natalie Dormer, Nathan Lane, Jessica Garza, Kerry Bishé, Ethan Peck, Adriana Barraza, Michael Gladis, Dominic Sherwood and Johnathan Nieves, as well as Piper Perabo, Amy Madigan, Brent Spiner, Lorenza Izzo, Lin Shaye and Adam Rodriguez in recurring roles. The series premieres April 26 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.

Resident Alien

Based on the Dark Horse Comics series of the same name by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, Resident Alien is coming to Syfy this summer. The television adaptation stars Alan Tudyk as Harry Vanderspeigle, an extraterrestrial on Earth posing as a human doctor who quickly assures those around him that he is "not an alien" in the first teaser for the sci-fi/comedy series.

SyFy's Resident Alien stars Alan Tudyk, Levi Fiehler, Sara Tomko and Alice Wetterlund. The series is set to release in summer 2020.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Years after the premiere of its sixth season on Netflix, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming to Disney+ this month for a seventh and final season. The award-winning animated series takes place in between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

Premiering Friday, Feb. 21, on Disney+, the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars stars Matt Lanter as Anakin Skywalker, Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka Tano, Dee Bradley Baker as Captain Rex and the clone troopers, James Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan and Sam Witwer as Maul.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

As Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker moves out of movie theaters, bringing the Skywalker Saga to a close, the film has announced details about its home-video release. Due out this March, Lucasfilm has debuted a new trailer for Episode IX that brings the Resistance together for one final battle against the First Order for the fate of that galaxy far, far away while also confirming special features included with the release.

Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong' o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. It will be released on digital HD and 4K UHD on March 17 and on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on March 31.

The Stranger

The new streaming service Quibi is poised to capture the attention of audiences streaming content primarily through their mobile devices. It will release original content that runs for ten minutes or less per installment. Among the digital platform's original programming is The Stranger, a "movie in chapters" following a young woman who picks up a charming hitchhiker, who the first trailer has revealed is more murderous than he seems.

Written, directed and produced by Veena Sud, The Stranger stars Maika Monroe, Dane DeHaan and Avan Jogia. The Stranger arrives on Quibi on April 6.

Supergirl

The emotional core of Supergirl Season 5 has been the rupture of the friendship between Kara Danvers and Lena Luthor after Lena learned about Kara's secret identity as Supergirl. A promo for the series' 100th episode, titled "It's a Super Life," has Mr. Mxyzptlk bring Kara back to the past to prevent things from going sour with Lena.

Airing Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers.

Uncaged

A Dutch monster movie pits the citizens of Amsterdam against a very different, man-eating creature: An oversized lion that has developed a taste for human flesh. Uncaged has the angry king of the jungle going urban, with the Dutch police in pursuit. A trailer for the film's North American release shows off plenty of bloody action as the hunt escalates.

Released through Shooting Star Film Company and Parachute Pictures, the film originally premiered in the Netherlands in 2016 and will release in the United States on March 17, 2020. Uncaged will be available on VOD, Digital HD and DVD. It stars Sophie Van Winden, Julian Looman, Mark Frost, Reinus Krul and Victor Löw.

Vagrant Queen

Based on the Vault Comics series of the same name by Magdalene Visaggio and Jason Smith, Syfy's latest original series is Vagrant Queen. The show follows an interstellar scavenger who journeys across the cosmos to clear the deadly bounty on her head. Syfy has released the first full trailer for the series, which is set to premiere next month.

Developed for television by Jem Garrard, Vagrant Queen stars Adriyan Rae, Tim Rozon and Paul du Toit. The series premieres March 27 at 10 p.m. ET on SYFY.
