Concept art from the abandoned Fox-turned-Disney film Mouse Guard has now surfaced online for all to see.

Releasing the artwork on his official Instagram page, concept artist Darek Zabrocki described his experience, saying, "We had so much fun since the project was so free to interpreting that let us go crazy with world and look of it." The CEO of Focal Point School added, "Honestly, being on this project from the very beginning made me aware and pumped onto how important and inspiring [it] is to create a new vast world. For me, it was the biggest, most elaborate and in depth full of freedom project I ever took part in."

Zabrocki's concept work featured world-building ideas, costume designs and detailed keyframes. The illustrations provide a peek at a cave inhabited by the evil snake, a river rafting trip, a visit to Trees World and a look at Mouse Witcher.

Petersen's Mouse Guard follows a group of walking and talking mice tasked with protecting civilians during medieval times. The comic book was published by BOOM! Studios' Archaia imprint and was originally picked up by 20th Century Fox. Ball was expected to utilize performance-capture technology to animate the titular mice.

In addition to Zabrocki, early work on the film had been conducted by character designer Ken Barthelmey and director Wes Ball for months before Disney canceled the project.
