10 Mysterio's Powers Can Make Anyone Do Anything

Mysterio Kindred Sinister Six

Mysterio isn't scary because of what he's done- he's kind of run of the mill as far as his crimes go. No, what makes Mysterio so scary is what he can make others do. As one of the top illusionists in the Marvel Universe, Mysterio can make just about anyone do anything he wants them to. In one alternate universe, he even made Wolverine kill the X-Men.

Someone who can someone else do whatever they want is pretty scary and Mysterio is a master. He may have a glass jaw but seeing through his attacks and finding him is difficult enough- as is not killing anyone innocent on the way there.

9 Kingpin's Power Over The Underworld Makes Him Very Scary

The Kingpin

Kingpin can seem kind of mundane sometimes. Sure, he's amazingly strong and smart but in the end, he's just a crime boss. That doesn't seem like much in a world of superpowered heroes but that's forgetting just how far of a reach Kingpin has. He's the greatest criminal in the US, possibly the world, and can afford the best help. Not only that, but he can find out just about anything, including secret identities.

Kingpin has pulled off some terrible things against the heroes because of his resources and connections. One never knows if his assassins are watching their parents or other loved ones. Kingpin has no qualms and people are willing to do whatever he says- that's scary.

Kraven the Hunter is one of Spider-Man's most dangerous foes and he's proved that many times over the years. Deciding to hunt Spider-Man because he was looking for a challenge, Kraven's skill and physical abilities are scary but what makes him the most frightening is his resolve. Kraven never stops, never gives up, until he succeeds.

He gave up exactly once- killing himself after proving he was a better Spider-Man than Spider-Man, but even that couldn't keep him down. He returned to bedevil his old nemesis and other heroes. A relentless foe like Kraven is one of the scariest there is.

6 Jackal's Erratic Nature Makes Him Quite Frightening

Miles Warren as The Jackal in a lightning storm in Marvel Comics

The Jackal was the engineer of the Spider-Clone Saga, which is enough to put him on any terrifying villain list. While being the architect of one of the worst Spider-Man stories of all time is pretty scary, what makes Jackal so frightening is that he's smart enough to perfect cloning and is also deeply erratic.

That erratic nature and intelligence make a scary foe- he comes up with truly cunning plans to enmesh his enemies in. He's also given himself superhuman strength and speed, the better to fight Spider-Man with. Jackal's wild nature, mixed with his physical attributes and intelligence, makes him a terrifying foe.

5 Demogoblin Is What Happens If Hobgoblin Was Actually Scary

The Demogoblin is a Hell entity with a surprisingly honorable personality

When Jason Macendale was Hobgoblin, he made a deal with the demon N'astirh for more power. Eventually, this new demonic side of him would break free and become Demogoblin, a monstrous fanatic who joined with Carnage to purify the city of New York. Demogoblin used his terrible demonic powers to kill all he perceived as a sinner- and that was everyone.

Demogoblin's frightening visage and zeal for killing made him one of the deadliest foes Spider-Man ever faced. An indiscriminate killer, Demogoblin is one of Spider-Man's most despicable enemies, capable of anything and ready to kill anyone in his way.

Curt Connors as LIzard

Dr. Curt Connors never meant to become a bloodthirsty monster- he just wanted to help people who lost limbs grow them back. Green Goblin has proven how dangerous and scary he was many times over the years, targeting Spider-Man's loved ones and even becoming an Avengers level foe. His cunning and unpredictability make him a terribly dangerous and scary enemy.

1 Carnage Loves Nothing More Than Killing

Carnage Ft

Venom was once one of Spider-Man's scariest foes but Carnage quickly took his place. Even before he got the symbiote, Cletus Kasady was a terrible serial killer and once he gained possession of the living costume, he only got worse. Carnage's body count rose precipitously, using the symbiote to become one of the most prolific killers in the Marvel Universe.

Carnage has no interest in anything but killing; it's the only thing in life he actually enjoys and is good at. He can't be reasoned with and the only way to stop him is to kill him. There's nothing scarier than that kind of villain- a relentless killer that can't be stopped.
