This summer, Spider-Man: Far From Home will see another of Spider-Man's iconic villains brought to the big screen with Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio. There are still a lot of questions surrounding the character, his involvement with the multiverse and whether he is actually a good guy. Despite what the trailers have suggested, many still think Mysterio will be the film's bad guy.
The Sinister Six are a team made up of Spider-Man's most famous villains. They have been rumored to be appearing on the big screen for years, but the various projects failed to materialize. The team has gone through many different iterations over the years, including many of Spidey's most dangerous foes in their ranks along the way. Here are the deadliest members of the Sinister Six.
10 Scorpion
Several people have taken up the title of Scorpion over the years, but probably the most famous (and the one already established in the MCU), is Mac Gargen. As a private investigator for J. Jonah Jamerson, Gargan is hired to find out Spider-Man's true identity. When he fails, Jameson hires him as a test subject to turn him into someone who could defeat Spider-Man.
The experiment transforms Gargan into the powerful Scorpion. Along with super strength and agility, Scorpion is equipped with a special suit which includes a mechanical scorpion's tail. The tail can strike with deadly force and shoot projectile weapons.
9 The Lizard
The Lizard is one of Spider-Man's most tragic villains, but that doesn't make him any less deadly. Dr. Curt Conners is a brilliant scientist as well as a friend and mentor to Peter Parker. While using lizard DNA to help regenerate his amputated arm, Conners is transformed into a veracious reptilian humanoid known as the Lizard.
The Lizard possesses incredible strength which allows him to overpower Spider-Man in a fight. Like Scorpion, his tail can be quite damaging when he starts throwing it around. He also has sharp claws and teeth, which he is always trying to sink into the wall-crawler.
8 Rhino
Rhino has gone through many different styles, but the classic version of the villain is certainly deadly enough. Aleksei Sytsevich is a Russian thug who works as muscle-for-hire for a variety of crime bosses. In order to make him more of a match for Spider-Man, he is given a dose of gamma radiation (the same that gave Hulk his powers), which makes him super strong.
While not the smartest villain, Rhino's immense strength is pretty much unrivaled. Along with that, he is equipped with nearly impenetrable body armor, which makes him very difficult to stop.
7 Kraven The Hunter
Kraven is one of Spider-Man's most interesting villains. Instead of being driven by greed, revenge or a desire to rule the world, all Kraven wants is a good hunt. Sergei Kravinoff is a big game hunter who believes in hunting fairly. He uses no weapons and instead takes on his prey with his bare hands. In order to hunt Spider-Man, Kraven takes a special serum with makes him stronger.
Along with the increased strength, Kraven's hunting instincts are elevated. He also has a brilliant mind, enabling him to set devious traps, and is a very skilled fighter in hand-to-hand combat.
6 Mysterio
If Mysterio is revealed to be a villain in Far From Home, Spider-Man is in for a difficult fight. Quentin Beck is a special effects master and movie stuntman who becomes bitter after his loses his job. He turns to a life of crime, using his particular set of skills to pull off his robberies.
Though not the most physically opposing foe Spidey has come up against, Mysterio is nonetheless effective thanks to his endless bag of tricks. He is able to create illusions, complex robotics and chemical weapons, which he uses to great effect.
5 Sandman
Sandman made his film debut in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 (played by Thomas Hayden Church), where he showed off his considerable power. Flint Marko was a petty criminal who, when fleeing from the police, accidentally comes across a nuclear testing sight. During the test, he is fused with the sand in the area, turning him into Sandman.
Sandman's body is made from sand, making him nearly impervious to physical attacks. He can also manipulate sand, creating sandstorms and burying his enemies. Most effectively, he can reshape his body parts into deadly weapons.
4 Doctor Octopus
Doctor Octopus is certainly one of Spider-Man's most famous villains and he has proven to be one of his most formidable. Dr. Otto Octavius was a brilliant scientist who created a set of mechanical arms to help him with his work. After an explosion fused the arms to his back, Doctor Octopus was born and began pursuing a life of crime.
Doc Ock might be the most intelligent of Spider-Man's enemies. He is continuously inventing and designing new technology for the purposes of his crimes, or to take out Spider-Man. However, his mechanical arms are his deadliest feature, able to spear, swat and crush on the doctor's command.
3 Venom
Venom has been a fan favorite Spider-Man villain for a number of years, and last year he even got his own solo film starring Tom Hardy. Eddie Brock is a former journalist at the Daily Bugle who blamed Spider-Man for losing his job. When Peter Parker separates from the symbiote, it attaches itself to Brock, who then becomes Venom.
Feeding off Brock's anger, Venom becomes a strong version of Spider-Man. He has many of the same abilities as the web crawler but is much bigger and utterly bloodthirsty. He has sharp claws and teeth, along with his incredible strength.
2 Green Goblin
Green Goblin has had his fair share of big screen appearances, in both the Sam Raimi trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man films. That's not too surprising, given how devastating a villain for Spider-Man he has been in the past. Norman Osborn is the criminal mastermind who develops a formula which transforms him into the nefarious Green Goblin.
Green Goblin has super strength and excellent fighting skills. He is also armed with an impressive array of deadly weapons. He rides a glider which can fire projectiles. He is also equipped with small "pumpkin bombs," which he hurls at his enemies.
1 Electro
Electro might have made a forgettable big screen villain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but he is nonetheless a very capable adversary. Maxwell Dillon was a electrical engineer who had the bad luck of repairing a broken line during a lightning storm. After being struck by lightning, his body adsorbed the electricity, turning him into Electro.
Electro has almost godlike powers to control and emit electricity. He is able to blast powerful and devastating bolts of electricity at his enemies and can control all the electricity around him as well. These powers can also allow him to fly and travel at super speed.
