A common misconception about Batman is that he primarily works alone. In reality, the Gotham Knight is a member of numerous superhero groups in the DC Universe. Batman is naturally the head of the Bat Family. He's also a founding member of the Justice League and the Gotham Knights. The Outsiders is another team created by the Caped Crusader.

There are two iterations of this team; the first Outsiders team debuted in The Brave and the Bold #200. Bruce created this team as a covert ops offshoot of the Justice League. The second Outsiders team formed to help Bats uncovers the Dark Multiverse's secrets. We'll look at members of both groups and rank from weakest to strongest.

10 Knightfall

In short, Kinghtfall is like a female Batman whose parents were crimelords. Charise Carnes comes from a life of decadence and splendor - "the struggle" was a foreign concept to her family. Eventually, Charise fell for a guy named Edward. She thought Eddie loved her regardless of her family's fortune. In truth, Edward used Charise to get close to the rest of her family - so he could kill them.

In the aftermath, the GCPD blamed Charise for the carnage and sent her to Arkham Asylum. There, she learned about 'inner madness' from James Gordon Jr. Charise took up the name Knightfall, broke out, and joined Geo-Force's Outsiders team. At the moment, she doesn't have many accolades to her name.

9 Orphan

Referring to Wayne Manor as an orphanage is a long-running joke among Batman fans. This is because most of Batman's disciples either have dead parents or estranged family ties. Dick Grayson was an orphaned circus performer, and Jason Todd was sometimes depicted as a street rat. Cassandra Cain was also alone when Batman took her in.

Orphan is the current alias of Cassie Cain. Longtime comic readers will likely recognize Cassandra as a former Batgirl. Indeed, Cassie kicked tons of butt and took many names on New Earth. However, Cassandra's track record isn't as impressive or extensive at the moment.

8 The Signal

Duke Thomas is one of the newer heroes on this list. He first made waves during the We Are Robin comic book series. These books started in 2015 and are still going on to this day. The gist is that a group of teenagers who live in Gotham City collectively take on the Robin mantle. From there, they fight bad guys and tackle cases that they couldn't alone.

Duke leads the 'We Are Robin' for a while. Eventually, he earns a spot in the Batman Family and dons the Signal mantle. Later, Duke is revealed to have metahuman DNA and 'infinite blood.' Duke can potentially do great things in the future. For now, he's still learning the ropes.

7 Freight Train

Freight Train is one of the Outsiders'big powerhouses. Born Eric Moran, Freight Train's powers allow him to play with the laws of physics. Much like Black Panther from the MCU, Eric can absorb kinetic energy and power up. When he's charged up, Freight Train's strength, speed, agility, and durability all drastically increase!

Train first gained his powers when an alien parasite bit him. By all accounts, Eric should have died. However, he pushed away from Death's door and came back stronger than ever. Freight Train is very strong and smart, but he's inexperienced. However, we think he'll be an even heavier hitter in a few years.

6 Katana

Katana

Katana is another hero with many allegiances. She's a member of the Suicide Squad, the Birds of Prey, Task Force X, the JLA, and the Outsiders. But before all of that, Tatsu Toro was an Olympic Martial Artist and family woman. Sadly, Tatsu lost all that when her brother in law grew green with envy.

Takeo Yamashiro killed Tatsu's husband and daughters using the Soultaker Sword. When Takeo tried to kill Tatsu, she fought back. The sword sensed her resolve and chose her as its new wielder. Blade in hand, Tatsu avenged her family. In the aftermath, Tatsu took up her Katana alias and became a vigilante. Katana has no superpowers of her own, but she's very experienced. Her sword can also harm Kryptonian due to its magical nature.

5 Metamorpho

Rex Mason is a man with a checkered past, much of which he doesn't remember. An ancient meteorite also turned Rex into a metahuman, further complicating his life. Given the circumstances, Rex's life should have crumbled to pieces; his transformation could've driven him mad or towards a life of crime. But Mason took the high road - using his powers to help others under the name Metamorpho.

As Metamorpho, Rex can transform his body into various states of matter. Rex is so good at what he does that he nearly joined the Justice League International. Instead, Batman recruited him into the Outsiders and the rest is history.

4 Halo

Halo is an extremely powerful hero with a complex origin story. Violet Harper used to be a normal woman with no powers of her own. In New Earth, Violet used to live in Arlington, Missouri as a child. Violet got mixed in with the wrong crowd when she became a woman. Eventually, Violet died during a heist gone awry. An alien called an Aurakle possessed her body, creating Halo in the process.

Halo's Prime Earth origin is similar, only this time Violet is a drug addict. Before she dies, Katana and the Suicide Squad rescue her. Much later on, Batman would recruit Halo into the Outsiders.

3 Black Lightning

JLA Quiz Black Lightning

Jefferson Pierce is a man with many distinct talents. Early in life, Jeff displayed a high level of intelligence and excelled in school. Jeff also pushed his athletics to the max until he became an Olympian. Jeff gained electrical abilities as an adult, but the methods vary depending on which version of the DC Universe we're discussing.

In the 1970s, Jeff used to wear a belt that allowed him to control lightning. Over time, Jeff developed powers of his own and no longer needed the belt. Later, writers retconned Pierce's origin - stating that he was born with lightning powers. Now, there's a debate if Jeff's abilities are magical in nature. Either way, Pierce has kicked so much butt as Black Lightning that his feat ought to be sore.

2 Olympian

Achilles Warkiller in battle

Speaking of Olympians, our next hero stepped right out of the pages of Greek Mythology! Warkiller is a character from New Earth who was created by Zeus. The Greek God of the Sky made the Olympian in a similar fashion to Wonder Woman, but with a twist; Zeus fused the heart of a Hawai'ian God with the soul of the great hero Achilles.

Warkiller resulted from the process and swore to protect Themyscira as its king. Achilles asked Alkyone to become his queen. She agreed but proved to be a vile woman in sheep's clothing. Wonder Woman helped Achilles dethrone Alkyone. Warkiller paid it forward by joining the Outsiders when Batman needed his help.

1 Batman

Honestly, who else could have taken the top spot? Most of the characters in this article have special powers. All of them are also skilled crime fighters. However, none of them have a track record that's as storied or as strong as Batman's. Since the 1940s, Batman has fought criminal masterminds and psychotic killers on a daily basis.

The Dark Knight has also defeated beings like Darkseid, Brainiac, and Barbatos! And let's not forget about the time Bats became the God of Knowledge. Caped Crusader's accolades are impressive on their own. Add in the fact that he doesn't have any superpowers (beyond being filthy rich) and these feats become insane!
