In the world of Marvel Comics, there are several groups of individuals who have power sets of their own. There are the popular and common heroes of the Avengers who have either built their power around science and technology or magic, such as Iron Man and Thor. There are the mutant heroes known as the X-Men, who gained power from genetic mutations at birth. Then there are humans born unknowingly with the possibility of becoming an Inhuman.
If exposed to the Terrigen Mist, humans are transformed into Inhumans. Taking a look at the Inhumans known to Marvel fans, here are the ten most powerful female Inhumans in Marvel Comics.
10 Ember Quade
One event in recent Marvel Comics history that seems to have changed the game was the release of the Terrigen Mist bomb. When Thanos attacked Attilan and left Black Bolt clinging to life, Maximus the Mad had convinced Black Bolt to unleash a massive blast of the Terrigen Mist, moving around Earth to preserve the Inhuman race.
These new Inhumans were dubbed Nuhumans, and one of them was Ember Quade. A normal high school student, she gained the power to draw energy to her and create pixels that could interact with the world, she used it for revenger against the boys who banned her from her online games, until Squirrel Girl and Ms. Marvel stopped her.
9 Els Udonta
The Inhumans have a long history in the world of Marvel Comics and are known to be allies of the historic first family of heroes in Marvel Comics themselves, the Fantastic Four. The group was most notably interacted with by Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, who helped the Inhumans on numerous occasions.
One Inhuman who met with Johnny Storm was Els Udonta, a member of the Universal Inhumans and the Light Brigade. While captured by Annihilus in the Negative Zone, she was one of the Light Brigade members who helped Johnny stop the villain. She is a skilled archer and has once uncovered Spider-Man’s identity through enhanced scent.
8 Alecto
One crucial aspect of the Inhumans is that they are ruled by the Inhuman Royalty, including King Black Bolt and Queen Medusa. However, there are many different members of the Royal Inhumans, including the cousin of Black Bolt, Gorgon. An Inhuman with hooves and the ability to send shockwaves, he has two children of his own, including the Inhuman Alecto.
Alecto is the older sister of Petras and has a powerful winged appearance. She ran away from Attilan with her love Reyno, who was destined to be an Alpha Primitive among their people and sought amnesty at the Baxter Building. Ultimately however she was forced to return and end the relationship.
7 Avia
A crucial aspect of the Inhumans is the decision to let one of their members undergo the process of Terrigenesis. The exposure to the Terrigen Mist is a rite of passage that determines what powers and appearance the Inhumans are to receive, based on their genetic codes, and is an emotional aspect of the Inhuman race.
One way the Inhumans make these decisions about the process is through the Genetic Council, a group of Inhumans charged with decisions regarding the Terrigen Mist and the fate of the Inhumans as a whole. One member of the council is Avia, an Inhuman with an avian-appearance and powerful wings.
6 Auran
One of the more instrumental Inhumans to the security and investigations of crimes related to Inhuman activity in Marvel Comics was none other than Auran. After undergoing Terrigenesis, Auran was granted the ability to choose any word she wanted, and whenever it was spoken she would hear it and be able to pinpoint the location it was said in.
After the fall of Attilan, she became partners with Nur, a former police investigator turned Inhuman after the Terrigen bomb went off. They were sent by Medusa to find Black Bolt, only to discover he was under Maximus’s control. She passed away protecting Nur from Black Bolt’s voice after Maximus forced his brother to speak.
5 Moon Girl
One of Marvel’s most powerful young heroes in recent years happens to also be an Inhuman or for more modern readers one of the Nuhumans. That hero is Moon Girl, aka Lunella Lafayette. A brilliant inventor and genius-level intellect, Lunella became obsessed with the Kree and built a device to locate Kree technology.
After one such device brought Devil Dinosaur to Earth, she revealed her discovery she had the Inhuman gene and her fear of being transformed. However, eventually, she did get exposed to Terrigen Mist and discovered she had the power to switch minds with Devil Dinosaur, taking over his body during times of rage and anger.
4 Quake
One of the more unique female heroes with Inhuman lineage is the hero Quake. While popular for fans of the hit show Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, the Daisy Johnson of the comics was a human with mutated DNA from her villainous father Mr. Hyde and her mother, who had Inhuman genes. The combination of these two parents kickstarted her ability to manipulate vibrations and gain Inhuman metabolism.
Later she was taken in by Nick Fury and SHIELD, trained to be a part of the Secret Avengers. She was taught the skills of a SHIELD agent, and become a hero of the Marvel Universe.
3 Ms. Marvel
The next powerful female Inhuman that deserves to be mentioned is none other than the latest Marvel hero to the comics, Ms. Marvel, aka Kamala Khan. Notorious for being one of the first Muslim superheroes to headline her own comic book, Kamala was an average teen girl with a hero obsession when she was exposed to the Terrigen Mist, unlocking her Inhuman DNA.
Gifted with shapeshifting abilities that allow her to change size, shape, and mass to anything she wants, she also has a healing factor and has quickly become one of the newest and youngest heroes in the new generation of Marvel heroes.
2 Crystal
The two most powerful women in the Inhumans comes from the Inhuman royal family themselves. The first is the sister of the Queen herself, Crystal. A popular hero who has also joined the Avengers, worked with the Fantastic Four and had relationships with Johnny Storm and Quicksilver, Crystal is a truly powerful Inhuman.
With the ability to control the four elements of the world, (air, water, earth, and fire), Crystal has established herself as her own hero and individual away from her royal family. Her leadership skills and work has made her an established part of the larger fabric of the Marvel Universe.
1 Medusa
The most powerful female Inhuman in the Marvel Comics universe is none other than Medusa. The queen of the Inhumans herself and wife of Black Bolt, Medusa is known for her power that allows her hair to become prehensile and acts as independent appendages of her own body, giving her an edge in battle.
What makes her unique is the fact that she has gained a far stronger immune system than her fellow Inhumans. Most Inhumans have a weak immune system, but her countless battles and adventures have strengthened her own immune system. This combined with her leadership, thievery and Inhuman skills make her a powerful member of the Inhuman Royal Family.
