While it's always fun to watch superheroes save the day in a blaze of glory, some of them definitely aren't as competent as others. Despite having the best intentions, there are certain television shows which prove not everyone has what it takes to defeat evil on a regular basis.

These characters are usually used for comedic effect for others to play off of in their exasperation. Even so, sometimes their incompetence can land them in some pretty sticky situations that most capable heroes would surely be able to avoid. Whether it's due to lack of skill, intelligence, or something far more complicated, some wannabe heroes are probably better off staying in the shadows.

11 Chloé Bourgeois Doesn't Bring Much Of A Sting

Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir

Chloe Bourgeois as Queen Bee in Miraculous Ladybug

As one of the primary antagonists for main character Marinette Dupain-Cheng in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, Chloé Bourgeois has a lot of snarky opinions. If only she were as good at crime-fighting as she is at talking trash. It's no surprise Chloé isn't what viewers would call a white knight, considering her main motivation for becoming a hero is for bragging rights.

While she can be intimidating on her best days, Chloe lacks the work ethic to truly honor her Miraculous power. Her costume may shine as brightly as the sun, and her superpowers may be as sweet as honey. But when it comes to her skills, strength, and heart on the battlefield, this Queen Bee only stings herself.

10 Kite Man Takes The Wind Out Of His Own Sails

Harley Quinn

Kite Man from Harley Quinn looking proud

Although he technically works on the side of evil, audiences definitely see Kite Man as more of the clumsy wannabe hero type in Harley Quinn. Despite not having any superpowers, Kite Man is always locked and loaded with his signature kite, which is about as effective as viewers might expect.

The Harley Quinn series often makes fun of Kiteman's silly power, as he usually prepares to fly into battle only to be foiled by a gentle breeze. In the end, it doesn't matter which side he is fighting for. If Kite Man's only asset is a children's toy, then it's likely he'll just land himself directly in timeout.

9 Ron Stoppable Is An Impossible Sidekick

Kim Possible

Ron looking scared with Rufus on his shoulder while Kim shines a flashlight ahead

The pun in his full name may imply he is unstoppable, but Ron Stoppable very much embodies his surname and not much else in Kim Possible. Despite being at the center of danger with protagonist Kim, Ron usually makes their missions go haywire.

Known for his clumsiness with gadgets and tendency to cower during battles, it isn't too often Ron contributes something meaningful to his team. While he may have the rare insight into a supervillain's plan, or perhaps be lucky enough to stumble into a secret lair, viewers can't count on this sidekick to swoop in and save the day the way Kim can. Ron is better off eating at Bueno Nacho where he can't make his best friend's missions impossible.

8 Dave Is The Meekest Barbarian To Ever Pillage

Dave The Barbarian

Dave The Barbarian looking fierce

While Dave may look the part of a formidable warrior in Dave the Barbarian, don't be fooled; his baby sister is actually far more fearsome. Despite having muscles the size of small boulders, Dave would rather spend his time knitting or making a delicious strudel.

Dave the Barbarian also has several qualities unbecoming of a bloodthirsty warrior, namely that he's allergic to nearly everything with a leaf attached to it. His motivation to venture onto the battlefield is practically nonexistent, seeing as in every episode he encounters something that causes him to shriek in fear. Dave may be a barbarian, but if viewers are honest, he's far better suited as a librarian.

7 Dynomutt Needs To Be Tossed A Bone

Dynomutt, Dog Wonder

Dynomutt and Blue Falcon

Dynomutt is a wonder, but that's only because it's a wonder he hasn't gotten himself killed yet. In the 1978 series Dynomutt, Dog Wonder, the main canine has the likability and goofiness of the average lovable dog, but that doesn't really coincide with fighting crime.

Being almost as dim as the squirrels he chases, Dynomutt rarely foils evil with a strategic plan. Moreover, his unsteady grasp of his own abilities makes him operate like a loose spring rather than a well-oiled machine. His sidekick, Blue Falcon, doesn't appear to lend much of a wing either, often landing the pair in even more trouble. Unfortunately for civilians, Dynomutt is a case of someone who constantly ends up chasing his own tail.

6 The Stooges Make A Bumbling Trio

The Robonic Stooges

The Three Robonic Stooges in their Superhero Costumes

Turning the Three Stooges into a team of crime-fighting robots may sound hilarious, but it also goes just about as well as audiences would expect. The Robonic Stooges reveals just how ineffective putting three clowns together truly is, with the real battle being the task of deciphering who is the biggest klutz.

In every episode of The Robonic Stooges, the gang never disappoints with their constant slapstick, malfunctioning body parts, and fantastically unrealistic super battles. Whether it's Moe, Larry, or Curley, one thing is clear; the boys are "soitenly" better off letting the real heroes grapple with the top bosses.

5 Curiosity Will Kill Catman

The Fairly Oddparents

Adam West as Catman in The Fairly Oddparents

Catman may be a luckless actor in The Farily Oddparents, but he's so much more than that. He's also the show's kookiest kitty. Despite being well-intentioned, it turns out Adam West prancing around as a feline does more harm than good for humanity.

Whenever Catman is featured, Timmy Turner and his fairies usually spend most of the episode rescuing the furry hero from himself. That includes the numerous lawsuits the super kitty manages to entangle himself in, much like his favorite ball of yarn. This cat definitely needs to clean out his litter box before he does any serious crime fighting.

4 Mermaid Man Just Blows Bubbles

Spongebob Squarepants

Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy from Spongebob Squarepants doing a fist bump

While Mermaid Man may have once had the shiniest shells in the deep blue sea, in Spongebob Squarepants the version of the famed superhero that viewers get is more than a little washed up. Even though the series implies he kicked major bubbles back in his heyday, the main battle Mermaid Man seems to partake in these days is the fight against arthritis.

Mermaid Man's waning superpowers matched with his foggy memory don't pose much of a threat to the criminals of Bikini Bottom. Spongebob may be too kind-hearted to give up on his hero just yet, but audiences know Mermaid Man will likely go belly-up before the next tide.

3 Bunny's Superhero Skills Are Definitely Lackluster

The Powerpuff Girls

Bunny With Blossom And Bubbles And Buttercup In The Powerpuff Girls

Bunny is initially Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup's slapdash attempt to get out of fighting crime, and it definitely shows. While lovable, Bunny is absolutely the city of Townsville's most chaotic hero.

Throughout The Powerpuff Girls episode, "Twisted Sister," Bunny does her best to be an ideal hero, but she just doesn't have a knack for it. More often than not she accidentally arrests the authorities rather than the people actually committing crimes. Even though she's as sweet as the animal she's named after, Bunny doesn't have what it takes to wield the true power of a Powerpuff.

1 Inspector Gadget Malfunctions Ever Episode

Inspector Gadget

Inspector Gadget with a propeller hat

He may have every device in the universe at his disposal, but Inspector Gadget proves even the most well-prepared of characters sometimes need to be saved from themselves. Gadget has every tool and mechanism viewers can think of, yet he is very rarely a helpful handyman or a perceptive detective.

In fact, the main recurring joke of Inspctor Gadget is that his niece Penny is the one who quietly saves the day, often going behind his back to get him out of trouble. Apparently, it doesn't matter if someone is part-cyborg if they just don't have the skills to use their bionics for good.
