It takes more than just great skill to be chosen as a Triwizard Champion. Cedric Diggory had a compassionate and fair nature that made him stand out among the crowd. He recognized that Harry helped him through the first task in The Goblet Of Fire, and gladly returned the favor during the second task.

Although fans only got to know Cedric Diggory for a short amount of time, audiences adored Cedric for never boasting about his champion status and always coming to Harry's defense when Harry was hassled for being chosen. There are many reasons why Cedric Diggory was a Triwizard Champion, and his humility was one of them.

6 Hermione Granger, The Brightest Witch Of Her Age

If anyone else in Harry Potter was the smartest witch or wizard at Hogwarts, they would likely boast about it. Being a muggle-born witch gave Hermione the drive to be the best at everything and to prove she belonged at Hogwarts. Hermione never boasted her accomplishments, but she was certainly proud of them.

Lupin taught Harry how to produce a Patronus, which takes great skill to do. Lupin's condition as a werewolf gave him empathy for others and he frequently granted people the benefit of the doubt. Overall, Lupin embodied humility and compassion.

4 Ginny Weasley Is A Modest Witch

Fans shouldn't forget that she is quite brilliant and can easily think outside the box. Her kindness and empathy towards others, along with her sharp brain, make her a humble but powerful witch.

No one else would have the foresight to know where to find Ravenclaw's Diadem in The Deathly Hallows. The Battle of Hogwarts could have gone on for days if it weren't for Luna's brilliance. Even though she doesn't get recognized for her brilliance often, fans love her.

1 Neville Longbottom Was Almost The Chosen One

It can be easy to forget that Neville Longbottom was almost The Chosen One, and could have become Voldemort's greatest enemy. Though the title went to Harry Potter instead, it doesn't make Neville Longbottom any less important or courageous.

The Sorting Hat chose Neville during the Battle of Hogwarts to pull the Sword of Gryffindor. Neville also destroyed the Horcrux in the snake, Nagini. Neville was even the leader of Dumbledore's Army during his seventh year. Neville would never brag about himself, but fans know that he is one of the most important characters in the Wizarding World.
