There are many wonderful and useful powers in anime. Take most of the Devil Fruits from One Piece, for example, that bestow awesome abilities upon those who eat them. My Hero Academia also features a plethora of superpowers, with some definitely being more useful than others. While the weirdest abilities can usually be found in shonen anime, characters with superpowers exist across many different genres.
However, some characters are "blessed" with powers that are just downright disgusting. These abilities can cause viewers to cringe in disgust or even look away. In their strangeness and grossness, these powers are truly unforgettable if nothing else. Witnessing them in action leaves many asking why.
10 Having A Shape-Shifting Alien For A Hand (Parasyte)
In Parasyte, strange parasitic aliens burrow into the brains of people and transform them into zombie-like hosts. To attack and feed on other humans, these aliens can morph their victims' bodies into horrific forms. One of these parasites attacks Shinichi Izumi, a high school student, but is unable to make it to his brain and infests his right hand instead. Shinichi and the parasite have no choice but to coexist in one body.
Migi, as the parasite becomes known, gives Shinichi superhuman abilities. Migi can manipulate his flesh, sprouting creepy-looking eyes, mouths, and even blades for combat. This is the stuff of nightmares, and all the body horror can leave some feeling physically ill.
9 Shooting Ramen Out Of Your Nose (One Piece)
Ramen Kenpo is one of the weirdest abilities in One Piece, and it's not even from a Devil Fruit. Ramen Kenpo master Wanze swallows flour and then shoots ramen out from his nose. He uses his nose hairs to cut up the noodles, a feat that is as impressive as it is disgusting.
Wanze uses his homemade ramen noodles in battle. While ramen noodles may seem like a poor weapon of choice, Wanze has several techniques that make him a formidable opponent. He can shoot sharpened noodles from his nose at high speeds, use his noodles as whips, and protect himself with armor made of ramen.
8 Becoming A Giant Blob Of Flesh (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)
In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, there are many odd powers, often in the form of Stands. Giving their users superhuman abilities, Stands are manifestations of a person's life energy. Carne, a member of the Passione, has a Stand that only activates after he dies.
After Carne's death, his Stand, called Notorious B.I.G, transforms into a giant mass of flesh complete with tentacles and the ability to grow by slowly consuming people from the inside out. Notorious B.I.G rivals Akira in body horror imagery and is certainly not a power that anyone would ever wish for.
7 Shooting Sticky Webs Out Of Your Rear End (Hunter x Hunter)
Hunter x Hunter is another shonen anime where its characters possess a myriad of powerful and creative abilities. One ability is particularly strange, and it belongs to the Chimera Ant, Pike.
Pike's abilities include shooting a sticky white substance from his rear end, entangling his opponents in webs. This attack is aptly named "Love Shower," and it is surprisingly effective. His webs are extremely durable and strong, making him a difficult enemy to escape from. Despite their strength, his abilities (and his character design as a whole) are just plain creepy and gross.
6 Turning People Into Meatballs (My Hero Academia)
Seiji Shishikura has one of the most disturbing Quirks in all of My Hero Academia. His abilities include turning people into unrecognizable blobs of flesh. Horrifyingly, his victims retain feeling and consciousness in this state yet can't do much to help themselves.
Seiji can also manipulate his own flesh to defend himself and attack others. He can separate parts of himself from his body, transform their shape and size, and use them to fight his opponents remotely. Seiji's abilities are nightmare-inducing and can leave many viewers feeling a little grossed out.
5 Seducing Men With Your Sweat (Hamatora: The Animation)
In Hamatora: The Animation, a small number of people in the world have supernatural powers. They are called Minimum Holders. One such Minimum Holder, Arata Hasuda, possesses an ability that is rather gross.
Hasuda's sweat has special properties, allowing it to be used to seduce others. Once seduced, Hasuda's victims will do his bidding. His power comes with several issues, however. For one, it only works on men, so Hasuda is left vulnerable to attacks by women. Also, Hasuda has to constantly work out to produce enough sweat for his ability to work. Most would be disgusted by any power that involves the production of bodily fluids.
4 Attacking Enemies With Explosive Gas (Fairy Tail)
This trio of thieves from Fairy Tail has a pretty unique approach to combat. With a name like "the Jiggle Butt Gang," the three thieves all miraculously possess extra large posteriors. The trio can expel ridiculous quantities of gas after charging up, which then explodes, causing quite a bit of damage.
The Jiggle Butt Gang has several different attacks, including one where they rub their rear ends together to create enough friction to shoot fiery gas at anyone unfortunate enough to be in their way. Their powers are both disgusting and comical.
3 Cleaning Clothes With Your Spit (Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid)
In Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, Tohru is a dragon who takes on the form of a girl to work as a maid for Miss Kobayashi, a human being. While Tohru has many powers related to her dragon identity, her strangest one is her ability to clean clothes with her saliva.
Compared to her abilities to breathe fire or open portals to other dimensions, using her saliva to clean is a mundane but potentially useful power. She initially does Miss Kobayashi's laundry by stuffing it into her mouth, but Miss Kobayashi is disgusted, and rightfully so. No one in their right mind would want someone to clean their laundry with spit, no matter how effective.
2 Healing Others By Drenching Them In Saliva (Bleach)
Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck is one of Bleach's most memorable characters. A former Espada, Nelliel assumes a childlike form after a head injury during battle caused her energy to leak from her skull. In her child form, Nel possesses a power that is helpful but gross: healing others with her saliva.
Nel claims that her saliva has minor healing properties. She can produce massive amounts of spit to drench others' wounds, an ability she calls "Nel Shower." She can activate her ability by touching her uvula. While doing this can help her produce more saliva, it often causes her to vomit as well, usually on the person she's healing.
1 Fighting With Your Nose Hairs And Boogers (Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo)
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is a wacky comedy series about an empire suffering under the rule of Tsuru Tsurulina IV (Czar Baldy Bald IV in the English dub version), a tyrant who has his troops steal the hair of innocent people. It gets even stranger, with the main rebel being Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, who fights back using his nose hairs.
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo can use his nose hairs like whips in attacks that are surprisingly powerful. However, if fighting with his nose hairs wasn't gross enough, he also has control over his boogers, which are somehow sentient, and he can send them to attack his opponents. One particularly disgusting attack involves him invading his opponent's nose with his nose hairs and sending his boogers directly into their nose. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo has some of the most bizarre and disgusting abilities in all of anime.
