In one story, Lisa goes through a period of ennui, so Marge encourages her to smile, even when she doesn't feel like it. Seeing this, Marge immediately takes back her advice, tells Lisa to be herself, and promises to smile enough for the both of them. Of course, Lisa has no problem smiling after that.

Lisa has a variety of storylines in the series. In her professional life, Lisa usually works as a seamstress and dressmaker. Lisa also has a prominent love life on the show. While the series occasionally hinted at a relationship with Ray, Lisa ultimately marries her love-interest Victor in the series finale.

5 Carol Is As Great A Stepmother As She Is A Mother (The Brady Bunch)

On The Brady Bunch, Carol is the loving matriarch of the titular family. Not only is she a loving mother to her three daughters, but Carol is also a wonderful stepmother to Mike's three sons. In one early episode, Bobby gets spooked into thinking Carol might be a "wicked stepmother" and plans to run away. Carol ultimately reassures him otherwise, saying she'd run away with him. In later seasons, the only real reminder that the Brady bunch is a blended family is the theme song.

The series starts with their marriage, but Samantha and Darrin eventually welcome a little witch and warlock into their lives: Tabitha and Adam. In fact, Samantha's children were written into the show because of Elizabeth Montgomery's second and third pregnancies. Samantha is a loving and powerful wife and mother, always protecting her family from scheming nymphs, life-sucking crones, fairy tale villains, and the occasional in-law.

Samantha's own mother, Endora, isn't as nice as her daughter, but is charming in her own right. In fact, most of Endora's antagonism comes from wanting to spend time with Samantha and her grandchildren.

3 Dr. Rainbow Johnson Is A Medical Professional And Down-To-Earth Mother (Black-ish)

On Black-ish, Dr. Rainbow Johnson, or "Bow," is the beautiful and intelligent mother of the Johnson family. Bow usually works in the medical field, with positions ranging from surgeon to anesthesiologist. Bow takes great pride in this, usually inserting the fact she is a doctor into a conversation on a whim. Bow can also be a strong voice of reason, like when she snaps her kids out of wanting to be starving artists.

Rainbow tends to be more down-to-earth than her husband Dre is. However, Bow can get carried away at times, though her heart is usually in the right place. As her name suggests, Rainbow also has a colorful past, notably being raised in a commune.

After the birth of Little Ricky on I Love Lucy, Lucy shows herself to be a loving mother who bends over backward for her child. When Little Ricky gets tonsillitis, Lucy sneaks into the hospital to give him his teddy bear. When Little Ricky's school is having a pageant, Lucy is willing to play a haggard witch.

In the famous "Lucy and Superman" episode, Lucy vows to get Superman himself to appear at Little Ricky's birthday party. When it looks like the Man of Steel isn't appearing, Lucy naturally makes her own Superman costume.
