With everyone all cozied up at home trying to avoid the insanely stressful pandemic right outside their doors, the video game market has benefitted from a substantial boom. Everyone's playing games to pass the time, especially the two biggest recent releases of Animal Crossing and Doom Eternal.

Doom Eternal is the newest game and Doom Guy/Doom Slayer gets the most characterization in it we've seen to date. And, he does a ton of badass stuff to live up to his namesake, so we figured now was a good time to go over some of the most hardcore moments spanning throughout the franchise. From least to most, let's look at Doom Guy's greatest hits.

10 Held His Ground After Being Tossed By A Cyber Demon

One of the last fights you'll do in Doom 2016 is against the beloved Cyber Demon. This thing looks better than ever and there were many allusions to it throughout the entirety of the campaign. And, the intro cutscene is pretty hype because the towering goliath can't even wait for the doors to open!

He rips them asunder, grabs Doom Marine, and launches him to the other side of the arena. Any other character would eat dirt and get thrown into the wall from that throw, but Doom Guy manages to not even fall over, inside just sliding to a stop. It's a fantastic minuscule detail that really shows Doom Slayer could beat most anyone or anything.

9 Killed The Spider Mastermind With a BFG To The Mouth

Not too long after that Cyber Demon fight Doom Guy then goes up against the Spider Mastermind herself. This fight can be a real pain especially on the higher difficulties but we found it to be a blast. And once our champion beats Olivia Pearce in her new form, you get to see one of the best Glory Kills in any Doom Game.

We all know the BFG is the poster boy weapon of the series, so using it for Glory Kills just seems like an easy win, right? What about sticking it down to a giant Spiders Throat and blowing them out from the inside? Brutal, but oh so satisfying.

8 Killed Three Different Icons Of Sin

Unsurprisingly, the Doom Slayer has killed a lot of Demons. So many in fact, that it isn't really an achievement to him anymore. He's killed multiple Spider Masterminds, a bunch of Cyber Demons, and too many Cacodemons to count.

But the award has to go to the impressive amount of times he's killed an Icon of Sin. There was the one in Doom, Final Doom, Doom II, and now Doom Eternal. These things aren't easy to make or easy to come by, so the fact that he's taken out so many is frankly absurd.

7 Carried Around The Foot Of His Rabbit Daisy Just As A Reminder

So, for people who remember both the original Doom games, Doom Slayer has an odd gimmick that adds onto his rage against the Demons. Basically, after he finally returns home from Mars and sees that Demons have already begun to ravage Earth, he also finds his beloved pet rabbit Daisy's head stabbed onto a stake!

Who was the demon that knew to do that anyway? In any case, in memory of Daisy, the Doom Marine took her foot and made it into a keychain to remind him time and time again of his bottomless hatred.

6 Assaulted His Superior Officer For An Inhumane Order

Not enough people know the origin story of the Doom Marine back when he was first transferred to the UAC base on Mars. The guy had been in the armed forces for a while at this point and was a model soldier until he assaulted his Superior Officer. Turns out if you order the Doom Slayer to shoot innocent citizens he might get a tad pissed.

In any case, his superior got moved to Pearl Harbor in a full-body cast while the Doom Marine was honorably discharged and transferred to Mars. Neat to know that he's always had humanity's back, even in his early days.

5 Closed The Gate To Hell Behind Him On Purpose

The Mother Demon of Doom 64 basically erases all of the Doom Marine's hard-earned carnage and resurrects just about every Demon he killed. It really rustled the guy's jimmies, so he decided to stay behind in Hell and teach the Demons a lesson or two. Really though, at the end of Doom 64, Doom Guy decides to close the portal to Hell from the inside so that the Demons can't invade again.

And, even if they wanted to, he'd be there to stop them no matter what. A real manly sacrifice, one that any other character would die shortly after doing, but Doom Marine just toughs it out in Hell for a while after that.

4 Became A Night Sentinel As A Normal Human

Now, at some point, the Doom Slayer is found in Argent D'nur by a band of knight-like warriors called the Night Sentinels. It's part of Doom Guy's new and mysterious backstory. This band of rule-bound fighters all look human but they are of different blood. And, they take that blood insanely seriously, forbidding any killing between brothers.

So, that just goes to show how impressive the Doom Marine was if they made him a Night Sentinel anyway. Basically, Doom Guy fought in their arena and did such a bang-up job that they overlooked his exceedingly human DNA and inducted him into the Sentinels.

3 Blew A Hole In Mars Itself To Make A Shortcut

In Doom Eternal, the Doom Guy is on a mission just like any other Doom game, kill demons and then kill more demons. This time around, he's trying to find all the Hell Priests to kill so that he can then kill and stop Khan Maykr. And, to do that, he'll have to work with his old buddy Samuel Hayden. Events transpire and the two discover that the only way to get Doom Guy where he needs to go is a portal at the center of Mars.

The only problem is they're on a time limit and it'll take too long to get there. So, taking the most efficient path possible, Doom Guy abducts the BFG 10,000 and uses it to blast a hole in Mars itself. It's one of the aspects of Doom Eternal we just can't get enough of.

2 Became King Of The Night Sentinels By Defeating "The Titan" With The Crucible

Once Doom Guy becomes a part of the Night Sentinels, he starts to quickly work his way up the ranks with his irreplaceable skills of slaughter. And, after a time, he somehow finds himself leading the Sentinels himself with the Crucible in hand as his mainstay weapon. How did he do this? Well, by killing demons that's how.

He did it so often in fact that they all soon became afraid of this Slayer of Demons and sent their greatest creation, the Titan, after him. Spoiler alert he beats it with the Crucible and soon after becomes to new Leader of the Sentinels after King Novik.

1 Shot Himself Out Of A BFG 10K

You'd think we'd be used to the absurd stuff the Doom Marine does by now, but this one still blew us away. So, a question to any and all Doom fans. Which would be more dangerous, a normal round fired by a BFG 10,000, or the BFG 10,000 firing the Doom Marine right to your doorstep.

Because, personally, we think the second option is by far the most terrifying. And yeah, Bethesda seems to agree since Doom Guy literally shoots himself as ammunition out of said gigantic cannon. It's over-the-top, it's hilarious, and it really has us desensitized to the absurd stuff this guy does.
