With October just around the corner, there will be tons of new releases for viewers to feast their eyes on. With Halloween at the end of the month, there are quite a few scarier movies and television shows making their debuts in October. Viewers can expect to see werewolves, vampires and zombies run amok.

Outside the spookier stories, there are a number of other releases that will catch viewers' eyes. A few Oscar contenders, returns of popular streaming series and a long-gestating superhero movie release are all on the docket for an October that should keep viewers busy as well as entertained.

10 The Walking Dead Drops Its Final Episodes (October 2nd)

The Walking Dead finally comes to an end as its final batch of episodes drops October 2nd. The group comes into conflict with the Commonwealth and goes up against the Coalition. The eleventh and final season was split into three parts consisting of eight episodes for a total of twenty-four episodes for the season.

While The Walking Dead is coming to an end since its premiere in 2010, fans will not be without the series for long. AMC has Fear the Walking Dead, Tales of the Walking Dead, a Daryl Dixon spin-off, The Walking Dead: Dead City and a Rick and Michonne spin-off all planned on the network.

9 Interview With The Vampire Brings Another Adaptation Of The Novel (October 2nd)

Adapted from the 1976 Anne Rice novel of the same name, Interview with the Vampire follows two vampires' story of love in the early 1900s in New Orleans. Louis de Pointe du Lac and Lestat de Lioncourt recount their story to Daniel Molloy, a young reporter.

The series was shot on location in New Orleans, and is one of AMC's most highly-anticipated projects this fall. It is a different retelling of Rice's novel that had a film adaptation in 1994 starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. The show has already received high marks for its progressive, updated take on the original novel.

8 Amsterdam Is Director David O. Russell's First Project In Seven Years (October 7th)

Amsterdam stars Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington as three friends who become involved in a murder in the 1930s. However, they are framed and seek to clear their names and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history.

The film is written and directed by David O. Russell, his first film in seven years after Joy. Amsterdam boasts an impressive cast outside its three leads and includes: Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldana, Taylor Swift and Robert DeNiro to name a few. Expect Russell's latest film to be an Oscar contender this awards season.

7 Werewolf By Night Brings Horror To The MCU (October 7th)

Werewolf by Night releases on Disney+ Friday, October 7th. Described as an MCU television special, it follows a secret group of monster hunters who convene for a competition in order to obtain a powerful relic. Gael Garcia Bernal stars as Jack Russell/Werewolf by Night.

The project officially brings horror into the MCU and is part of Phase Four. The special also features an appearance by the TVA (Time Variance Authority) which has previously been seen in Loki. It has be praised for its unique aesthetic, with its black and white imaging hearkening back to famous horror films of the 1930s and 1940s.

6 Big Shot Returns For Its Second Season (October 12th)

Big Shot returns for its second season in October. John Stamos stars as Marvyn Korn, a hot-headed basketball coach who takes over the head coaching job for an elite all-girls high school in California. The series also stars Jessalyn Gilsig and Yvette Nicole Brown.

The second season has many plot threads to explore, including: Korn's assistant coach being offered a head coaching job at a rival school, the team moving into the more elite Division 2 category, and the all-girls high school going co-ed which leads to more distractions for the group.

5 Halloween Ends Will End The "H40" Trilogy (October 14th)

Michael Myers returns to wreak havoc on Haddonfield once more in Halloween Ends. The film takes place four years after Halloween Kills, Laurie Strode looks to put her past behind her and not let fear dictate her life. However, she faces off with Michael one final time to end a forty-year-long fight once and for all.

The "H40" Trilogy has been praised by fans and critics alike. Fans are looking forward to seeing how the saga of Michael Myers ends. The film will also touch on the COVID-19 pandemic and worked it into its overall story. Before Michael Myers' story reaches its conclusion, there will no doubt be tons of bloodshed in Haddonfield one last time.

4 Black Adam Finally Releases After Eight Long Years In Development (October 21st)

Black Adam becomes the latest addition to the DCEU. Starring Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam, an anti-hero who is imprisoned for five thousand years and recently freed into the modern world. His release puts him into conflict with the Justice Society of America.

Black Adam has had a long path to release. Johnson was announced to play the character in 2014 in a future appearance with Shazam, however they decided to give him his own film. It went through numerous delays and did not become a high priority until Shazam! had great success. There is a lot riding on the film and Johnson continually says that the "hierarchy of the DCEU" will change as a result.

3 My Policeman Gives Harry Styles Some Oscar Buzz (October 21st)

My Policeman follows Tom Burgess, played by Harry Styles, a gay policeman who is married to Marion Taylor whilst being in a relationship museum curator Patrick Hazelwood. The story takes place in two different timelines, forty years apart.

The film recently had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and while it had mixed reviews, Styles' performance was praised by critics. Some even thought that Styles was thrust into the Oscar race, which is good news for the actor after the controversy-ridden Don't Worry Darling has not been living up to expectations.

2 Ticket To Paradise Re-Teams George Clooney And Julia Roberts (October 21st)

Ticket to Paradise follows a divorced couple, played by George Clooney and Julia Roberts, who travel to Bali to work together to stop their daughter, played by Kaitlyn Dever, from marrying a man she just met. They hope to teach their daughter not to make the same mistake they did all those years ago.

The film marks Clooney and Roberts' fifth film together over twenty years. It also marks Clooney's return to a romantic comedy for the first time since One Fine Day in 1996 as he swore them off in the past. The film will stream on Peacock 45 days after its theatrical release.

1 The Mysterious Benedict Society Season 2 Continues The Battle Against Curtain (October 26th)

The Mysterious Benedict Society returns with its second season on Disney+. The series follows a group of gifted children as they work for Mr. Benedict in order to avert a worldwide emergency. In season one they found that the perpetrator behind the plot was Mr. Benedict's twin brother Dr. Curtain.

Season 2 will focus on the children looking to find Mr. Benedict and his team after they are kidnapped by following a scavenger hunt designed by Benedict himself. The series has been a high-performer for Disney+ and can continue given that the book series spanned four books.
