WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Mosquito Coast Season 1, Episode 6, "Calaca," which aired Friday on Apple TV+.

Apple TV's The Mosquito Coast has painted Allie (Justin Theroux) in a sinister light as he tries to evade the NSA down in Mexico. He's got his family on the run but we're slowly seeing narcissism emerge as he tries to find Calaca and the environmental terrorists he once ran with, which is sadly leading to him disregarding his family's safety. It's caused his wife, Margot (Melissa George), to hate him, but as their marriage fractures, he's obtained his biggest weapon yet.

Margot felt betrayed that Allie would trade her life just to keep his cell a secret, so she's betraying him, wanting him gone from their lives once the coast clears. However, she needs him presently for necessity as she has to protect their kids, Dina and Charlie.

But with the NSA agents that tried to help them now dead, as they flee once more in unknown territory, Margot could be the key. Allie's a genius a la MacGyver, but he isn't street smart. Given that Margot knew how to use her and Dina's feminine wiles to manipulate Chuy too, she can become a mother unleashed and the true leader of the operations. She simply understands the human condition, so the Mexicans they run into will take more to her than Allie, who just understands gadgets and machines.

When Chuy got disenchanted, he warned Margot that she had to leave or evolve as Allie would get them killed, so if she links up with him or other like-minded people, she can truly turn into a criminal mastermind that has pent-up rage from Allie constantly endangering them. She's already shown how cutthroat she can be, when possibly sacrificing Hugo's life, so Margot is indeed the brawn Allie needs.

And now that they're alone again, desperately trying to get to Calaca's Guatemala hub, while he was surprised at her dark side previously, now Allie knows he can turn her loose to use her intuition, sexuality and overall maternal instinct to save them.
