The upcoming Mortal Kombat movie has filled another role, casting Nitara for the upcoming film.
Elissa Cadwell will portray the vampiric fighter for the reboot. Writer Greg Russo confirmed the news on Twitter after an eagle-eyed fan noticed the name "Nitara" in an Instagram video. "Nothing gets by you guys," Russo wrote. "She'll be played by Elissa Cadwell."
This will be Cadwell's first acting role. She previously did stunts for Aquaman, The Shallows and Occupation.
Nitara made her video game debut in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. She is a vampire and relies on the blood of her enemies to survive. In the video games, she is portrayed as a morally neutral character. Her fatality is titled "Feast of Blood," which has her drain the entire body of her enemy of all their blood before tossing them aside.
Produced by James Wan, featuring the directorial debut of Simon McQuoid and starring Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Jessica McNamee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Joe Taslim, Mehcad Brooks, Josh Lawson, Sisi Stringer Elissa Cadwell and Tadanobu Asano, Mortal Kombat is expected to be in theaters March 5, 2021.
