Mortal Kombat creator and head developer of the Injustice series Ed Boon professed his excitement at the idea of a live-action Injustice film in a series of tweets while viewing director Zack Snyder's watch party of his 2016 film Batman v Superman.

"I met Zack twice, he was kool & let us visit the set in Chicago when they were filming the 'death of the Waynes' scene," Boon wrote in a tweet "Makes me wanna see the JUSTICE LEAGUE #ReleaseTheSndyerCut even more."

In a follow-up post, Boon said he believes that his game series Injustice, which uses many of the same characters and locations from Snyder's DCEU films, would also make a great movie.

The Injustice video game series takes place in an alternate DC Comics timeline where Superman becomes Earth's tyrant after the death of Lois Lane and the destruction of Metropolis at the hands of the Joker. This pits the Man of Steel against Batman, who leads the resistance against Superman's tyrannical rule. There are two main games in the series — Injustice: Gods Among Us and Injustice 2 —as well as a free-to-play movie edition.

While an Injustice film seems unlikely at this time, Snyder's Batman v Superman did feature a hint of the game series' dark mythology. A dream sequence in the film had Batman imagining a world dominated by an evil Superman, and the Dark Knight's fear of Superman turning to the dark side was the driving conflict between the two throughout the movie.
