With principal photography on Warner Bros.' cinematic reboot of Mortal Kombat currently underway in Australia, the cast is deep in martial arts training for the upcoming video game adaptation.
Ludi Lin, who stars as Liu Kang in the new film, shared a video of himself on his Instagram, showing off his high-kicking martial arts moves as he continues to train while filming continues.
Filming on the video game adaptation began this past September, with details on the upcoming film's story still under wraps. In addition to Liu Kang, iconic characters confirmed for the movie include Sub-Zero, Nitara, Jax, Raiden, Shang Tsung and Kang's best friend Kung Lao, among others.
Prior to Mortal Kombat, Lin starred in 2017's cinematic reboot of Power Rangers as the Black Ranger and had a small role in last year's Aquaman. An accomplished martial artist in his own right, Lin previously studied Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu before being cast as Liu Kang.
Produced by James Wan, featuring the directorial debut of Simon McQuoid and starring Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Jessica McNamee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Joe Taslim, Mehcad Brooks, Josh Lawson, Sisi Stringer Elissa Cadwell and Tadanobu Asano, Mortal Kombat is expected to be in theaters March 5, 2021.
