Sonya and Kano have been at each other's throats since the very first video game, with both returning for the latest sequel, Mortal Kombat 11, which was released earlier this year. There is currently no word regarding whether Tan will be playing another character from the long-running video game series, or if he will be stepping into an original role for the film. Regardless, from his work on such projects as Marvel's Iron Fist, Wu Assassins and Into the Badlands, it's pretty safe to say anyone who ends up fighting him is in for a rough time.

The Mortal Kombat series is one of the most popular and long-running franchises in video game history. First debuting in 1992, the original game has gone on to spawn numerous sequels, as well as movie, comic book and television tie-ins. A Mortal Kombat film directed by Paul W.S. Anderson was released back in 1995, followed soon-after by Mortal Kombat: Annihilation in 1997.
