WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Mortal Kombat, now in theaters and streaming on HBO Max.

One of Mortal Kombat's deaths was an emotionally charged event for the actors involved.

Joe Taslim (Bi-Han/Sub-Zero) revealed that his co-star Matilda Kimber (Emily Young) was brought to tears during his character's death scene. Taslim told USA Today, "We were good friends on set, so she couldn't see it. She didn't want to. She was almost crying. I told her, it's only makeup, but still, she would not look. It was very uncomfortable for everyone."

Taslim also discussed his mindset while filming Sub-Zero's death, stating, "He lost everything, he's catching his breath, crawling. I was devastated, but I needed to play this character to the end of the journey. He knew he's going to die. That's the hardest part. So when he is crawling, I lost a lot of energy during that part. I broke down after take four, devastated for real. I just couldn't stand up. I think I just crossed the line."

In the finale of Mortal Kombat, Bi-Han is burned to death by his adversary Hanzo Hasashi -- who has risen from hell as the warrior Scorpion. Though Bi-Han appears to be dead, Taslim revealed that he signed up for four Mortal Kombat sequels. In Mortal Kombat lore, Bi-Han is resurrected as the shadowy warrior Noob Saibot after his death.

Directed by Simon McQuoid and produced by James Wan, Mortal Kombat stars Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson "Jax" Bridges, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, Max Huang as Kung Lao, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, Matilda Kimber as Emily Young and Laura Brent as Allison Young. The film is now in theaters and streaming on HBO Max.
