After 25 years, a Mortal Kombat alum has donned their costume from the series and triggered a wave of nostalgia.

Kerri Hoskins, who voiced Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat 3, recently posted a picture of herself on Instagram wearing Sonya's classic green and white outfit. "Finally, after 25 years and many requests...I put the costume back on," Hoskins wrote. "Here's [Sonya Blade] at 50. Go ahead, compare her to the 25-year-old Sonya. I don’t care. This Sonya fights harder, protects her family fiercely and loves with all her heart."

In addition to playing Sonya in Mortal Kombat 3, Hoskins voiced the character in Mortal Kombat 4 and portrayed her in live-action in the Mortal Kombat: Live Tour in 1995. Hoskins' performance is credited with propelling Sonya to the upper echelon of Mortal Kombat characters.

"25 years after playing Sonya Blade in MK3, Kerri Hoskins [...] puts on her Sonya costume again, looking exactly the same.... proving the world isn't fair as the rest of us age," Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon added on Twitter. Sonya Blade has also been portrayed by Bridgette Wilson in the 1995 Mortal Kombat live-action film and Jeri Ryan in the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series. Jessica McNamee will portray the character in the 2021 Mortal Kombat film.

Produced by James Wan and directed by Simon McQuaid, Mortal Kombat will premiere simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max on Jan. 5, 2021.
