Late last month, a petition to add Scooby-Doo's Shaggy Rogers to Mortal Kombat 11 managed to rack up an impressive 100,000 signatures in just over 24 hours. The appeal's success caught the notice of Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon and Shaggy actor Matthew Lillard. Now, that petition has reached another impressive milestone.
As of this article, the number of signers on that Change.org petition has grown to 318,000 and counting. In honor of the petition's success, its creator posted this message earlier today: "On behalf of Woken News Network, we would like to thank you for your tremendous support. We've made international headlines, got recognized by the legendary Mr. Boon and Mr. Lillard but have also been receiving so many awesome e-mails from you guys as well. Keep up the amazing work, you rock!"
Shaggy's sudden resurgence in popularity initially started as a meme that depicted Shaggy as a godlike fighter, mimicking powers of characters from franchises like Dragon Ball Z. Although it doesn't seem particularly likely that the character will join the fighting game's cast, one can definitely hope.
Mortal Kombat 11 will release on Apr. 23 for PS4, Xbox One and Switch.
