With Mortal Kombat 11 due to release next week, Netherrealm has put out a launch trailer highlighting the game's brutal kombat and the assortment of kharacters you'll be fighting as and against. The studio has also committed to its time travel conceit and sets the trailer to the iconic Mortal Kombat theme from the 1995 movie.

Set after the events of 2015's Mortal Kombat X, the Time Keeper Kronika has decided that Raiden has balanced things too much to the side of good. To reset the balance, she has recruited several characters from the past, such as Shao Kahn, Baraka and Cyrax to help her defeat the forces of good. What she didn't count on was the past versions of characters such as Scorpion, Raiden, Jax Briggs and Kitana to band together with the heroes of the present to stop her.

Full of action, the trailer is packed with nearly every playable character in the game's initial roster, plus the pre-order character Shao Kahn. Future characters are promised via DLC, but thus far, only one has been announced: the sorcerer Shang Tsung, who will be voiced and have his likeness based on Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa, his actor from the 1995 film.

Mortal Kombat 11 releases next week on Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
