In the Mortal Kombat franchise, Mileena's main objective has always been to show up her sister, Kitana. Sure, the sai-wielding warrior has been a focal point in Shao Kahn's army, working alongside Baraka and others to ensure the Emperor rules everything but, as of Mortal Kombat X, it's a bit more personal for the monstrous clone when it comes to making Kitana pay for abandoning them.

She has nothing but pure hatred for the Edenian princess, made even worse by Kitana always getting support from heroes like Raiden, Liu Kang and Earthrealm's other warriors in her quest to retake the throne and protect the realms. However, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate's new Mileena ending gives the villain the ultimate revenge as she uses the Sands of Time to become everything Kitana wished she could be.

Once Mileena, brought forward from the past after dying at the hands of D'Vorah in the last game, beats Kronika in the Ladder mode, her ending allows her to become the Kahnum of Time. Using Kronika's Hourglass, however, Mileena doesn't choose to rule herself; she becomes the perfect princess to her 'parents': Emperor Shao Kahn and Queen Sindel.

This is a harsh dig at Kitana, who Mileena devours after the fan-bladed hero refuses to accept the clone. Mileena hates Kitana for rejecting her half-Tarkatan lineage, but here, Mileena lets go of everything to fashion a happy family. Kitana could never have achieved this as Sindel actually killed her father, King Jerrod, to get Shao Kahn the throne, which does show some maturity on Mileena's part.

Admittedly, Mileena does get twisted rewriting time, as she has Kitana's friends, including Raiden and Jade, cherishing this new rulership. Liu Kang's also bowing, so she's taken everyone Kitana holds dear and given them fates worse than death: servitude under warped minds. The icing on the cake comes when Mileena moves from the perfect daughter to the perfect mother, having a child with Tanya. She's ecstatic as she gets to groom her heir to be the next queen but what's more telling is she gets the happy ending Kitana and Liu Kang never could.

They were always kept apart by duty, then turned to Revenants and now Mileena ensures they didn't exist as a couple with her temporal remodeling. This places an exclamation mark on just how much Mileena doesn't care for their rivalry anymore, as she's delighted seeing Kitana's people suffering under their dynasty. This has Mileena relishing her new role as she becomes what Kitana wished to be, erasing everyone's memory of the princess as well.

It's not disclosed what Mileena did with Katana's essence, but if she's looking down from the realm of the undead, it'll definitely dig at whatever remains of her soul. This totally breaks the symbol Kitana tried to establish -- one of rebellion, freedom and justice. With everyone as mindless slaves, Mileena's the architect of this royal utopia and a true paradise, absolutely undoing everything her twin worked so hard for.

Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia. The Kombat Pack 2 expansion and Ultimate bundle are both now available.
