With fans all over the world competing online for bloody supremacy in this year's Mortal Kombat 11, developer NetherRealm Studios has announced a massive free update this week.
The downloadable update, titled "Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat League," will include seasonal ranked online competitions for players to unlock exclusive in-game rewards. A trailer showcasing the new online mode was released with the announcement, which also revealed a release date of Tuesday, June 18.
Working in a four-week rotation, players can rise through nine tiered rankings, from Apprentice to Elder God. They will unlock new rewards, including costumes and skins, as they progress. Rewards can also be unlocked through completion of daily and seasonal challenges.
The start of new seasonal cycles will reset rankings before continued gameplay matches players online with opponents at their same general skill level. In addition to the comprehensive ranking system, matchmaking will show the estimated odds of victory and defeat between ranked players online before each match.
Mortal Kombat 11 is developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive. It is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
