As Mortal Kombat 11 gets closer to release, more and more of the game’s roster has been pulled back. Last week showed off old veterans Jax, Liu Kang, and Kung Lao, and this week’s reveal is a newbie: Cetrion.
Cetrion, daughter of the game’s antagonist Kronika, is one of the very few Elder Gods playable across the entire Mortal Kombat franchise. The Gods, which include the thunderous Raiden, have largely stayed out of the conflicts between the realms. Cetrion has the ability to control the four elements -- air, water, earth, and fire -- which will sound more than familiar to fans of a certain anime franchise.
What she lacks in combos, Cetrion makes up for it with the versatility of her elemental abilities. Cetrion can crush enemies with rocks, set them aflame, send them in the air or teleport as water. And in true series fashion, her Fatality is appropriately gory and a display of her powers as a deity. In a kast that primarily features old kharacters, Cetrion is one of the few newbies, joined by her mother’s lackey, Geras.
Mortal Kombat 11 releases on April 23 for PlayStation4, Xbox One, PC and Switch.
