In the release of today's storymode trailer for Mortal Kombat 11, Cassie Cage was a notable presence, fighting against the threat of the time goddess Kronika. Now, in the official reveal trailer, the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade returns in all her bloody glory to uphold her family legacy.
The clip, released on Mortal Kombat's social media pages, showcases a bubblegum-blowing, selfie-taking Cassie looking as deadly as ever. As the commander of her own Elite Special Forces unit, she wields her drone just as her mother did in MKX. As in the last game, Cassie mixes it up with enhanced kicks like her dad and a whole lot of military firepower like her mom.
The highlight of her reveal comes with several iterations of Johnny's famous "Nutcracker" move, which is now incorporated into one of Cassie's Fatalities in a brutal fashion. As she takes down her family's archnemesis Kano, Cassie shoots him up right down the middle using her high-powered pistols before kicking him in the crotch, causing his skull and spine to burst through his head.
The game is as graphic as ever and continues to show that NetherRealm Studios and co-creator Ed Boon will maintain focus on the new generation of MK fighters. Notably, Cassie's colleague Jacqui Briggs (Jax's daughter) was also seen in the storymode clip, where she helped combat the new temporal threat at hand.
Moetal Kombat 11 releases on April 23 for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch.
