New stills from the upcoming Morbius film reveal a better look at Matt Smith's Milo -- believed to be a revamped version of Loxias Crown -- and several other characters.The stills, which you can see below, were shared to Twitter by user @thesebbazz. In addition to Smith, the pictures provide a look at, among others, Martine Bancroft (Adria Arjona) and Simon Stroud (Tyrese Gibson).
Created by Howard Mackie and John Romita Jr., Crown first appeared in 1996's Spider-Man #76. Also known as Hunger, the villain was formerly a member of Hydra and has been an enemy of both Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Morbius. Following a fight with Morbius, Crown was turned into a vampire of the same type as his enemy, which means he lacked some of the powers and weaknesses of a regular vampire.
Morbius sees Dr. Michael Morbius attempting to cure a rare blood disease, which results in him becoming a special type of vampire. Following his transformation, Morbius develops a hunger for blood and decides to prey upon criminals. Morbius' lifelong friend Milo, who suffers from the same blood disease and steals Morbius' vampiric abilities, will act as the film's main antagonist. Morbius will also be opposed by Stroud, an FBI agent hunting the living vampire. Additionally, while Morbius is set outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, promotional materials for the film have played up its connections to the larger Spider-Man mythos.
The third movie in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, Morbius was announced in 2018 and has had a long production. Originally, filming on Morbius took place between Feb. 2019 and June 2019, with a release scheduled for July 2020. However, the production has been wracked with delays stemming from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Following the release of Morbius, Sony has plans for several more films in its Spider-Man Universe, which launched with Venom in 2018. The next to release will be Kraven the Hunter, which is slated for release on Jan. 13, 2023. Written by Richard Wenk, Kraven the Hunter stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the titular character. He'll be joined by Ariana DeBose as Calypso, Fred Hechinger as Dmitri Smerdyakov/Chameleon and Russell Crowe in an unknown role. Other announced movies are a third Venom film and a project starring Dakota Johnson as Madame Web.
Directed by Daniel Espinosa from a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius is slated to release on April 1.
