Jared Leto's Morbius the Living Vampire will be stalking dark city streets very soon.

After producer Avi Arad teased that Sony's upcoming Marvel movie Morbius, based on the popular vampiric Spider-Man villain, would start production in February, it appears as if we now have confirmation that filming is officially set to begin.

On his personal Instagram page, star Jared Leto shared a brief video, revealing that he is now in London to film Morbius. The video itself may be without sound, but -- with dark surroundings and the emphasis on a red light -- it sure seems like Leto is teasing his character's status as a blood-driven creature of the night.

Sony's Morbius is set to take place in the same cinematic universe as Venom, the studio's other standalone Spider-Man villain film. Released in October 2018 and starring Tom Hardy in the title role, Venom went on to gross over $855 million at the box-office, a haul that guaranteed the highly-successful film a sequel. Sony's hope is to create its own shared universe of Spider-Man characters to rival the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the Venom sequel and Morbius are already planned, rumors are that Sony is also considering movies based on Black Cat and Kraven the Hunter.

While little is known about the Morbius movie, it was recently revealed that Doctor Who and The Crown alum Matt Smith had joined the movie's cast in a major, undisclosed role -- one that could ultimately be the main antagonist of the film. According to previous reports, Leto's Living Vampire, while appearing as a villain first in the comics, will be depicted as an anti-hero (much like Tom Hardy's Venom) and tangle against a villain named Loxias Crown.

In the comic books, Dr. Michael Morbius is a scientist who would be transformed into a vampire-like monster. Although initially a Spider-Man villain, the character would later become a hero in his own right, even going as far as headlining his own Marvel NOW! comic book series, 2013's Morbius: The Living Vampire by Joe Keatinge and Richard Elson.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life) from a script written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Lost in Space), Sony's Morbius stars Jared Leto as the titular character and Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft. The film will hit theatres on July 31, 2020.
