As principal photography continues on Sony's solo Morbius film in London, star Jared Leto has shared the first official full look at his tortured vampiric character.
Posted on the Academy Award-winning actor's Instagram account, a short looped clip shows a solitary, haunted Michael Morbius standing in the middle of a busy street as pedestrians pass by without giving the Marvel antihero a second thought.
Filming began in London last month is and expected to continue through May for a planned July 2020 release date.
While Leto had previously shared a photo of himself in-character from the film's set at the start of principal photography, his face was mosrtly obscured by the production slate, while leaked set photos and videos have revealed Leto during filming. Judging by Leto's latest post, his character will have take on the role of a lethal protector from the shadows and by himself.
Since he was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane in Amazing Spider-Man #101, Morbius the Living Vampire has been an occasional enemy and uneasy ally to Spider-Man and the rest of Marvel's heroes. Like the adventures of his comic book counterpart, Leto's Morbius is expected to incorporate elements of horror and superheroes.
Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life) from a script written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Lost in Space), Sony's Morbius stars Jared Leto as the titular character, Matt Smith as Loxias Crown, Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft and Jared Harris. The film will hit theaters July 31, 2020.
