The trailer for Morbius has recently landed bringing the half man half vampire into Sony's Spider-Verse. Heck, there's even some speculation that this is canon in the MCU now. There's plenty of different comic book elements that the film can incorporate, although some are more well known than others to fans and general audiences alike.

Such a long-running villain has had a variety of different storylines and character changes over the years. We're therefore taking a look at 10 lesser-known details about this character that could still make it into the film in some form.

10 NOBEL PRIZE WINNER

The trailer has clearly shown that the movie will be dealing with Michael's life as a biologist and scientist. Due to his rare genetic disorder and illness, Morbius is obsessed with trying to cure himself and indeed his many patients that rely on him.

In the comics, his work is so astounding that he actually manages to win a Nobel prize for his efforts. This can be included in the film as a nod to just how brilliant he really is; in order to make his eventual mistake more believable due to his intelligence creating more of an ego.

9 BEST FRIEND

After Morbius was initially turned into a monstrous creature he tasted his first blood, becoming one of Spider-Man's most underrated villains. However, the blood he first tasted was none other than his best friend's, Emil Nikos.

Morbius and Nikos had known each other since childhood. Nikos was almost as intelligent as Morbius and the two worked together on a variety of projects. He was his first kill as he was actually helping Morbius to heal himself until his traumatic demise.

8 SPIDER-MAN'S BLOOD

It's been well documented that Morbius has a bit of an obsession with Spider-Man. On paper this doesn't really make sense as their paths probably shouldn't cross; Morbius is associated with the realms of magic, demons and werewolves after all.

However, the reason these two do crossover many times is because Spider-Man's blood may be the key to curing him once and for all. For a time some of Peter's blood actually stopped Morbius from being the creature he'd been turned into, but only momentarily.

7 TELEPORTATION BANDS

This is less likely to make it into the film, however the principle of the concept could actually be very useful for the overall narrative of the movie. During one part of his life, Morbius came across some teleportation bands.

These wrist bands could transport him to a different dimension, where he could no longer harm anyone or drink the blood of innocents. Unfortunately, this plan eventually fell through. The trailer shows some form of teleportation so maybe this is how he achieves it.

6 ENEMY OF MY ENEMY

There's been a few times that Morbius has actually stood side by side with Spider-Man however, despite the rivalry between the two. Indeed, as the old adage goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Perhaps this team-up will make it to film one day.

The villain that united this duo was Carnage. Many other Spider-Man enemies and allies had to band together in order to stop the monstrous rampage that this serial killer had been on. The change of heart signified big things for Morbius.

5 MIDNIGHT SONS

The Midnight Sons are a lesser-known Marvel team that are known for specializing in the abnormal and supernatural. It is full of many different anti-heroes and people are have certain talents that make them qualified to fight the unknown.

This team up took place during Morbius' anti-hero days, where he dedicated his life to sucking the blood of criminals rather than innocent civilians. The team has consisted of a number of other famous characters including Blade, Ghost Rider and Doctor Strange.

4 DEATH

Speaking of Blade, there was a time where he became more ruthless than ever and took on the name switchblade. With an enchanted Blade he became merciless and killed many people that he could have once called allies or even friends.

One of the people that died by his blade was the vampire Morbius. However, this story has a sort of happy ending. The blade of Switchblade was destroyed, resurrecting Morbius. Perhaps a similar event will take place albeit with a different character.

3 BLOODBATH

There's been plenty of characters that have been introduced and forgotten about over the years. One of these was a young vampire known as Bloodbath, who rose to evil pretty quickly. His life was immediately intertwined with that of Morbius'.

There were a series of murders that Morbius was being framed for because they looked to be the work of a vampire. It turned out to be a young creature that was just developing his gifts. They would go on to battle each other numerous times.

2 POSSESSION

Due to the bloodthirsty nature of the character and his unstable mentality, Morbius can become possessed by demons more powerful than him. This has happened a handful of times and we could absolutely see this taking place in the film itself.

The problem is, each time he becomes possessed, any allies start becoming wary of his changes. His former allies can become enemies extremely quickly. Perhaps demonic possession is the way this anti-hero could join the Sinister Six however.

1 POWER ABSORPTION

Much like any vampire, Morbius can of course suck the blood of his enemies. He has to be careful what kinds of people or creatures he sucks the blood however. If those people have gifts of their own, he can sometimes absorb their various powers and abilities.

This has happened a few times and is truly bizarre when it does happen, as his body can physically change in a number of different ways. We can see this becoming an ability he picks up as the movies go on and he faces much tougher threats.
