Morbius may not be out until April 1, but early indications suggest that early reviewers aren’t fans of the Living Vampire.

The movie has already been screened for some critics and according to those who've seen it, Morbius is "boring and uncalculated." Entertainment journalist Brandon Matthews on Twitter reported some more impressions that say Sony's latest Marvel movie has "No consistency, except that it's bad." While there are a few good moments with some fun Easter eggs, it may be the case that Morbius will not receive glowing reviews.

Morbius is the third film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, following Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. If the movie does review poorly it will follow a trend as the first Venom movie was also widely criticized, despite being a hit with fans. Venom director Ruben Fleischer admitted he was surprised by the negative reviews. "I do think it's unwarranted because the audiences really loved the film," he said. "Otherwise, I don't think it would've been quite the success it was."

The character of Morbius first appeared in 1971's The Amazing Spider-Man #101, originally serving as one of the Web-Head's roster of villains. Director Daniel Espinosa confirms that Peter Parker does exist in Morbius, but potentially not in the form of any Spider-Man seen before. "You have a world where you have the same characters, and it's ALL of the characters, but they are slightly different," Espinosa explained.  "Which means that in all universes, there has to be a Spider-Man. Or a Spider-Woman," he added.

Jared Leto, who plays the titular Michael Morbius, wouldn't mind an opportunity to face off with the Wall-Crawler. "I would love to get in the ring with Spider-Man and I think Tom Holland is amazing," Leto said. "We'd make quite a dynamic duo, I guess."

Although Morbius began life as a Spider-Man rogue, the character evolved into an anti-hero in his own headline comic series, Morbius the Living Vampire, which began in 1992. The Morbius on-screen in Sony's movie adaptation leans more towards the latter alignment as according to Espinosa, the character isn't a villain at all. "Michael Morbius is one of the most altruistic characters of the Marvel Universe," he said. "He's one of the few that really believes in good. This good man has a horrible disease, and in his trials to save himself and the people that he cares for, he turns into a monster."

Fans can judge Morbius for themselves when it hits theaters on April 1.
