With the first several episodes of Moon Knight now released on Disney+, fans are clamoring to know how exactly the Fist of Khonshu fits into the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe -- a question the show's creator and head writer Jeremy Slater, unfortunately, can't answer. After being asked by a fan on Twitter when Moon Knight takes place in the MCU timeline, Slater admitted the lack of a firm premiere date during production forced the creative team to keep the show's place in the timeline unclear. "A lot of people have asked [about when Moon Knight takes place in the MCU], but I have no idea, sorry," Slater wrote. "We didn’t know when our show would debut in relation to their other shows and films, so the timeline was intentionally left vague."RELATED: Moon Knight Set an Impressive (and Overlooked) MCU Record

Moon Knight may be set out of time, but that hasn't swayed director Mohamed Diab's belief that the show's titular vigilante has plenty more MCU appearances to come. "[Marvel keeps] expressing every day, how much they love the show, but it's not like any other show, meaning on the other show, outside the Marvel universe," Diab said of Moon Knight during an interview earlier this month. "Meaning any TV series, if it's good, you know that you're going to get a second season, but one WandaVision was great. And you didn't get a second season, you went to something else. So what I'm absolutely sure of is that Moon Knight is staying, staying for a long time, in my opinion. That's just a prediction."

Slater, meanwhile, has shared more details about the show's production, such as how Moon Knight's main antagonist, Arthur Harrow, was originally written as an older character before the casting of actor Ethan Hawke in the role resulted in Slater almost immediately reimagining the character. Slater has also revealed how the design of Moon Knight's unique costume was inspired by a piece from famed comic book artist Alex Ross. The writer shared the artwork by Ross, Dough Braithwaite and Jim Krueger on Twitter, including the caption, "Look at that thing. Tell me that's not awesome."

The first three episodes of Moon Knight are currently streaming on Disney+, with a new episode premiering every Wednesday.
