Marvel's Moon Knight will crossover with the comic the character first appeared in, Werewolf by Night, in the upcoming Moon Knight Annual #1.

Marvel announced Moon Knight Annual #1 will feature a reunion between Moon Knight and Jack Russell, also known as the Werewolf by Night. Releasing in October, the synopsis for Moon Knight Annual #1 reads, "In the Darkhold, there is a prophecy of how a god might die. Jack Russell, more familiar with that cursed tome than most, would like very much to kill a god and save his people, the people bound in servitude to the moon. But to fulfill that prophecy requires the blood of the Fist of Khonshu, and Moon Knight doesn’t bleed easily."

Marvel Announces Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night Crossover

"It's been great seeing people respond to our MOON KNIGHT series, and it's always a bit of a thrill to give folks even more- and MOON KNIGHT ANNUAL #1 was the place to revisit some old history," Moon Knight writer Jed MacKay explained. “Moon Knight has changed a lot since he first did battle with the Werewolf by Night, but so has Jack Russell, and having the opportunity to see how these two interact now, all these years later, has been a lot of fun. And Jack isn't the only player in Moon Knight's history who is turning up when Federico Sabbatini joins us for another adventure (and draws the hell out of it, I must add)."

Created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, Moon Knight first appeared in 1975's Werewolf by Night #32. During his initial appearance, Moon Knight is portrayed as a mercenary hunted to track down and capture the titular werewolf. Moon Knight eventually realizes Russell isn't as monstrous as he's been led to believe and then attempts to help him avoid captivity. The Moon Knight character went on to star in a number of comics and stand-alone series, along with a Disney+ TV show, where he was portrayed by Oscar Isaac.

Marvel is also developing a Werewolf by Night Halloween special starring Gael Garcia Bernal that's expected to release later this year. A brief synopsis for the special reads, "A new Werewolf by Night is prowling the Southwest, but all is not as it seems! A young man, a family curse, and an unholy experiment prove a dangerous combination for a small town in Arizona. All young Jake wants is to protect his people, but who will protect him from the monster within?"

Moon Knight Annual #1 comes from writer MacKay, artist Federico Sabbatini and cover artist Rod Reis. The issue releases Oct. 26 from Marvel.
