The second day of this year's D23 came to end with Marvel Studios offering announcements concerning a variety of new titles and projects. Disney+'s Moon Knight, however, was not among them. Fans noticed and expressed their outrage across social media.

On Twitter, a number of fans criticized D23 and Marvel Studios for the lack of news concerning Moon Knight. Specifically, the lack of any news concerning the Disney+ show's second season.

While Season 1 of Moon Knight ended on somewhat of a cliffhanger with the debut of Marc Spector's third personality, Jake Lockley, who appeared to be far more loyal to Khonshu than Marc or Steven Grant. Star Oscar Isaac previously explained the show was not written with a second season in mind. "I think we approached it as 'this is the story'... And let's just put everything out on the table on this story. There’s definitely no official plans to continue it. I think it would depend on what the story is," he said.

But while it appears Moon Knight Season 2 is not in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's foreseeable future, the superhero and his allies are likely to appear elsewhere in the franchise. At least, that much was hinted at by director Mohamed Diab. He previously said, "[Marvel] keep expressing every day, how much they love the show, but it's not like any other show... Meaning any TV series, if it's good, you know that you're going to get a second season, but one WandaVision was great. And you didn't get a second season, you went to something else. So what I'm absolutely sure of is that Moon Knight is staying, staying for a long time, in my opinion."

Disney+'s Moon Knight follows Steven Grant, who discovers he is just one of two personalities including the mercenary Marc Spector. More than that, both are bound to serve as the avatar of the Egyptian moon god, Khonshu and compelled to battle the forces of the Goddess of Justice, Ammit, led by the Arthur Harrow. The series earned generally positive reviews upon release, with particular praise going toward Isaac for his performance as Spector and Grant.

There may have been no news concerning Moon Knight at D23 this year, but the event did unveil major updates concerning other projects composing the MCU, including Secret Invasion and Armor Wars, which will reportedly connect more directly with one another.

All six episodes of Moon Knight are available for streaming on Disney+.
