Star Wars alum Oscar Isaac is circling a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to Deadline, Isaac is in talks to join Marvel's upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight as Marc Spector. Nick Kroll and Hamilton star Daveed Diggs were also reportedly considered for the role, though Marvel now appears to be actively pursuing Isaac. The project is searching for a director, as well.

Isaac won't be the only recent addition to the MCU. Last month, newcomer Imon Vellani was reportedly cast as the lead for Ms. Marvel, while Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany was rumored for She-Hulk -- a report she has since denied. All three series were announced for Disney+ at last year's D23 Expo.

Created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, Marc Spector/Moon Knight first appeared in 1975's Werewolf by Night #32. The popular character, who is schizophrenic, received superhuman powers from the Egyptian god Khonshu. He is an expert detective and a capable martial artist, resembling in many ways DC Comics' Batman. The hero has been a member of a variety of superhero teams, including the West Coast Avengers.

Isaac is perhaps best known for his role as Poe Dameron in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy, but he has also appeared in sci-fi thrillers like Ex Machina and Annihilation. His past credits include X-Men: Apocalypse, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Addams Family, Inside Llewyn Davis, Show Me a Hero and A Most Violent Year.

Filming for Moon Knight is set to start production on Nov. 16, pending delays from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Jeremy Slater -- who also adapted Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba's Umbrella Academy into a Netflix television series -- will serve as the show's head writer.

At the time of this writing, Marvel Studios has yet to release information on its plot or casting. However, the show is rumored to be darker tonally than upcoming Disney+/Marvel television shows, She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel. Other rumors indicate that Marvel's horror characters Werewolf by Night and Dracula will appear in the show.

No release date for Moon Knight has been announced yet. The series will release on Disney+.
