Although Marvel Studios hasn't shared much about its upcoming Disney+ television series Moon Knight, fans of the character are hoping that there's still time to cast actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen in the titular role. Recently, Jackson-Cohen confirmed that he's still very interested in taking on the character.

Jackson-Cohen discussed how his fans explained Marc Spector's character to him on Twitter, ultimately swaying him to be interested in taking on the role in an interview with ComicBook.com. Previously being unaware of who Moon Knight is, through his fans, Jackson-Cohen learned of Moon Knight's history.

"Listen, Twitter is quite the encyclopedia," Jackson-Cohen shared with ComicBook.com. "I have been very fortunate that people have educated me well on Moon Knight and Marvel and the world of it. The honest response is that I have no idea, no one has called me about this, but, again, I stand by what I said, that Moon Knight sounds like a fascinating, fascinating character, and I'd love to get my hands on that, but you just never know, do you?"

Moon Knight debuted as a Marvel character in 1975’s Werewolf by Night #32. Moon Knight was the vigilante identity of Marc Spector, an ex-mercenary who, during a mission, is left for dead near the site of an Egyptian temple. The moon god Khonshu revived Spector in exchange for him becoming his avatar on Earth. Spector regularly adopted various identities -- like millionaire Steven Grant -- to fight criminals. Moon Knight suffered from mental illness, occasionally causing him to question if his heroics are no more than psychological delusions.

Filming for Moon Knight is set to start on Nov. 16, pending delays from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Jeremy Slater -- who also adapted Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba's Umbrella Academy into a Netflix television series -- will serve as the show's head writer. At the time of this writing, Marvel Studios has yet to release information on its plot or casting; however, it's rumored that the show will be darker tonally than upcoming Disney+/Marvel television shows, She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel. It's been rumored that Marvel's horror characters Werewolf by Night and Dracula will appear in the show. No release date for Moon Knight has been announced yet.

While it's unclear if Jackson-Cohen will have a part within the series, fans can still watch the actor next star in The Haunting of Bly Manor, which streams on Netflix on Oct. 9.
