Moon Knight star May Calamawy expressed interest in doing a spinoff focusing on her character, Layla El-Faouly/Scarlet Scarab, from the Disney+/Marvel Studios limited series.

Calamawy was asked about a potential Scarlet Scarab spinoff series during an interview with TheWrap. "I've never been in a movie," the actor said. "Well, at this iteration of my life where I'm at now, I haven't been in a movie and I would love to experience that. A Moon Knight movie would be wonderful. Now, if they are open to a Scarlet Scarab spinoff I'm not going to say no. (laughs). Or not even a Scarlet Scarab spinoff, even a Moon Knight Season 2. But my hope is that Moon Knight does jump into the film world."

Calamawy is not the only Moon Knight alum who wishes to see either a second season of the show -- despite leading man Oscar Isaac confirming that there will be no Season 2 -- or a movie. Series director Mohamed Diab previously discussed his own hope that Moon Knight will journey to the silver screen. "I dream and wish for a film," he said. "But with Marvel, the way they play it, it's not like you graduate into a film. You can go into a film and come to a TV show and go back."

Diab also stated that he believes Moon Knight will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, noting that the Fist of Khonshu is "an interesting character" and that it would be a "smart business decision" for Marvel Studios to further explore the character. "The only thing is, Marvel is not traditional," Diab said. "If you succeed, it doesn't mean you're gonna get a Season 2. By the way, I'm kept in the dark. I have no clue. I'm just thinking as a businessman right now." Adding to this, consulting producer Sarah Goher essentially confirmed that Moon Knight will be back, remarking that Marvel has only scratched the surface of the character's story.

Additionally, Isaac has remarked that he was unsure about his future as Marc Spector, saying that a second season of Moon Knight was going to depend on audience reception to Season 1. "But I love playing [Moon Knight]," he said. "Particularly Steven [Grant, one of Moon Knight's alter egos.] I hope I get to visit him again. I love him so much. I feel he's someone real, who lives in the world. It's been a long time since I felt that kind of connection."

Moon Knight is now streaming on Disney+.
