The following contains major spoilers for Moon Knight Episode 3, “The Friendly Type,” streaming now on Disney+.

Moon Knight has done an excellent job portraying a character and lore that have been largely removed from the grander Marvel Cinematic Universe. That said, there are still very subtle Easter eggs that remind fans the show is still part of the MCU. One of the most clever Easter eggs may allude to a larger plan involving the MCU's next big nemesis -- who could be even deadlier than Thanos.

In Moon Knight Season 1, Episode 3, "The Friendly Type," Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac) traveled to Egypt to try and stop Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) from excavating the tomb of the Goddess Ammit. He encountered some of Harrow's followers on his journey and got into a rooftop brawl with them, in typical MCU fashion. However, a New Rockstars video breakdown revealed that one of these thugs had the symbol of Rama-Tut -- an identity of Kang the Conqueror -- on his jacket. Why would Kang desire to rule over this particular part of world history?

One possibility could put Kang directly on a collision course with the Egyptian Gods and be the reason why Khonshu was banished for his actions. In the episode, it was mentioned that while the Gods had avatars, they didn't actively affect the flow of time or the people of Earth. The only one that still did was Khonshu, who weaponized his avatar with the Moon Knight armor (one reason he's considered a necessary evil). Should Rama-Tut play a factor in this decision from the Gods, it could also allude to a brief scene shown in Season 1, Episode 1, "The Goldfish Problem," which spoke of the "Great Rift" between humanity and the Gods of Egypt in one of Steven Grant's textbooks.

Unlike the Eternals, the Ennead appear to be true Gods in the MCU with otherworldly power to affect everything around them. Since they were at their height in Ancient Egypt, Kang's presence there would make sense -- as he would have to take them off the board when they were at their strongest. If he didn't, they could potentially have the power to stop any and all of his plans to conquer the multiverse. Therefore, this supposed Great Rift could be Rama-Tut's doing to eliminate his strongest foes without moving a finger. Since Khonshu was naturally untrusting, he likely didn't go along with the idea to separate from the humans... hence his banishment.

Since Kang is known to amass power in any time period he's in, he could have also been influential enough to move between the Gods and humans but not become an actual avatar. This would allow him to plan his Great Rift without any of the Gods knowing his plans. Whether by manipulating Khonshu or inciting events that made humanity seem unworthy of their intervention, the result would be the same: no godly interference on Earth. He could then enter at any point after that without anyone strong enough to stop him. Even Ammit would have no sway over Kang, since he'd have had centuries to prepare for her potential return.

Moon Knight has done a fantastic job of letting fans explore this new portion of the MCU without massive influence from outside characters. But if Rama-Tut's presence is confirmed, he may not have to appear to prove his influence on the Ennead. Making him part of Moon Knight would also explain how he's managed to amass an army and potentially take over the whole of time with little to no opposition. Only Khonshu and Marc Spector would have the knowledge to either face him or warn others of his plans -- which sounds exactly like the kind of setup for the MCU's next great villain.
