Moon Knight writer Jeremy Slater has revealed that he was unsuccessful in coming up with a way to reference the Marvel character's popular Dracula memes in the Disney+ limited series.

"I tried so hard. The problem is you can't say f-ck on Disney+," Slater told ComicBook.com. "And so you either have to do a really awkward bleep where something breaks right when they say it. But it also felt to have him sort of recreate any part of that meme, but not do the part that people liked the most, which is the sort of inappropriate cursing. It was just kind of shining a spotlight on the fact that we couldn't curse."

The writer continued, "I still think [there are] ways to get some of those memes in there. I've also said on the record that I would love to see [Moon] Knight going after Dracula at some point. And maybe Blade has that area staked out, no pun intended, but look, if Moon Knight goes after Dracula, I can assure you that someone will work that meme in there somewhere."

The origins of the meme are tied to the Facebook group Moon Knight-Core, a fan group dedicated to making humorous and appreciative posts about the superhero. The group edited a panel from the story "Tower of Shadows" in Solo Avengers #3. The original depicted Moon Knight walking down the stone staircase of a castle located in Southern California's Santa Monica Mountains searching for Werewolf by Night, while the viral meme has Moon Knight calling Dracula a "big f---ing nerd" demanding the vampire pay him back an undisclosed amount of money.

While Dracula does exist in the pages of the comics, Marvel Studios has not officially introduced or hinted at the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the legendary vampire hunter Blade recently made his MCU debut through an uncredited voice cameo in an Eternals credits scene featuring Kit Harington's Dane Whitman.

Moon Knight Season 2 has not been confirmed, but Oscar Isaac, who stars as the titular character, has confirmed that he would be interested in reprising the role in other projects. With both Blade and Werewolf by Night set to become a larger part of the MCU, there will be plenty of opportunities for Slater or other writers to reference the original Werewolf by Night panel or the viral Dracula meme in the future.

Moon Knight is available to stream in its entirety on Disney+.
