Disney+ series Moon Knight and The Book of Boba Fett just scored big at the 74th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The shows were both recognized at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony on Sept. 4, 2022, which unlike the Primetime Emmys, focuses primarily on technical achievement. The Creative Arts Emmys also spotlight excellence in genres outside scripted live-action programming, such as animated series, reality TV and documentaries. Moon Knight's win comes after another Marvel Cinematic Universe series, What If...?, nabbed the award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance, which went to Chadwick Boseman. Boseman's wifeTaylor Simone Ledward accepted the Emmy on his behalf, noting in her speech how much the role of T'Challa/Black Panther meant to her late husband. "[W]hat a beautifully aligned moment it really is that one of the last things he would work on would not only be revisiting a character that was so important to him and his career and to the world, but also that it be an exploration of something new, diving into a new potential future," she said.

Love, Death + Robots Beats The Simpsons and Star Wars

Among the other winners on the night were Netflix's animated anthology series Love, Death + Robots, which beat out stiff competition from the likes of The Simpsons, Star Wars: Visions and The Boys Presents: Diabolical!. The show received the Emmy for Outstanding Short Form Animated Program for Season 3 episode "Jibaro," which was written and directed by Alberto Mielgo and animated by Spanish studio Pinkman.TV. Mielgo previously described "Jibaro" as a deeply personal story about "two characters that they're basically a mix of many things that happened to me in what can be like a toxic relationship."

Love, Death + Robots was recently renewed for a fourth season, however, the future of both Moon Knight and The Book of Boba Fett is less clear. While Marvel Studios and Disney+ entered Moon Knight into the limited series category at the Creative Arts Emmys, a recent TikTok video featuring star Oscar Isaac and executive producer Mohamed Diab hinted that another season of the MCU show is in the works. By contrast, even though Lucasfilm and Disney+ entered The Book of Boba Fett in the ongoing series category, Season 2 is not officially greenlit. That said, star Ming-Na Wen recently suggested that a second season of the Star Wars series will be announced in the coming months.
