All this month I'll be reviewing different comic books with LGBT themes (LGBT standing for "Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender"), based on submissions from the actual creators of the comic books themselves. Here is an archive of the comics featured so far!

Today we take a look at Bill Roundy's cute/disturbing horror romance mini-comic, Brood.

This is the second of Roundy's so-called "horrible romances," which are off-beat mini-comics about somewhat disturbing horror-themed romances. The first one was a love triangle between Dr. Frankenstein, Igor and Dr. Frankenstein's monster. I don't know if I'll have time to get to that one this month. It was fun - I think Brood is a bit more layered, though.

In any event, Brood is about, well, a brooding vampire. A brooding vampire who is lonely and wants a boyfriend. He soon finds the "perfect" guy. Roundy tells the story very well in the space allotted (we're only talking 14 story pages here)...

The alternate timelines bit was really well done, right?

The mirror bit was quite cute.

Ultimately, the vampire gets his chance and makes the most of it. What is particularly amusing (and twisted) is what happens next. The last caption in the book is particularly priceless. Go pick up a copy of this book at Roundy's store here! It's just three bucks!
