Every day this month I'm going to feature the work of a great artist, only instead of me picking the artist to feature, they will be picked by their peers, fellow professional comic book artists who are picking out artists (from the past and present) who they think deserve special attention. Do note that most artists I asked about this gave me multiple answers and I picked out one choice out of a number of suggestions, so these are not definitive answers, like "Artist X likes Artist Y and he thinks all other Artists are terrible!" Here is an archive of the artists featured so far!

Today, we have the pick of Jamal Igle, who is a long-time DC comic book artist on a number of titles. Currently, Jamal is drawing Supergirl. Here's Jamal's website.

Jamal's pick is Mike Norton.

Mike Norton has been in comics for over a decade now. He first gained attention with some creator-owned work in the late 90s. Eventually, he became the Art Director for the then-new company, Devil's Due. He drew Voltron while he was there.

Since then, he's been slowly building his profile at Marvel Comics and DC Comics with great work on a number of mini-series and fill-ins. More recently, he has been doing ongoing work for DC Comics.

Norton co-created Gravity with Sean McKeever, about a young superhero trying to make it through college and superheroing in New York City.

Here's some Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man work he did...

Here's some Teen Titans Go! work he did...

He did some fill-in work for Runaways...

He got his first regular gig for DC drawing the All-New Atom, with writer Gail Simone...

Most recently, he was (along with Tom Derenick and Scott McDaniel) one of the regular back-up artists on Trinity - a year's worth of comics and no missed deadlines! Congrats, gentlemen!

And for the last year or so, he's been the regular artist on Green Arrow/Black Canary...

As you can see, Norton's clean, detailed style is a storytelling dream come true for writers - he tells the story extremely well without any loss of focus. When you add in his extreme professionalism, and there is no wonder why DC keeps giving him new assignments.

I wonder what he'll be up to next!

Here's Mike's website, where he posts other pieces of art, including most recently, a few pages of upcoming Green Arrow/Black Canary artwork of his...inked by Bill freakin' Sienkiewicz!!! WOAH!

Thanks to Jamal for the pick!!
