According to The Hollywood Reporter, Westworld's Jonathan Tucker will join Booksmart star Kaitlyn Dever in Monsterland, an anthology series based on writer Nathan Ballingrud's North American Lake Monsters.
Dever will play Toni in the series, who is a 19-year-old waitress and mother in Louisiana without hope or money. Her life will take a major turn when she meets Tucker's Alex. He's described as "a mysterious out-of-towner, road-hard and brooding, whose mere presence feels like a threat — or a dare. Magnetic in his strangeness, Alex has found a shocking way to jettison his past and take on new identities — one that inspires Toni to shake off the burdens of her own merciless life, whatever the cost."
In addition to her role in Booksmart, Dever was also a regular on the Tim Allen-led comedy Last Man Standing for the show's first six seasons. This isn't her first time working with Tucker, as the two appeared together in Justified Season 6.
Created and written by Mary Laws, no release date for Monsterland or additional casting information was revealed.
