The latest Nintendo Direct was all about Capcom's hit Monster Hunter franchise, with two games announced for the Nintendo Switch to debut in 2021.

Introduced by series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, the presentation showcased the franchise's next main installment Monster Hunter Rise and its spinoff Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, with both upcoming video games unveiling announcement trailers showing its heroes and signature beasts in action.

Monster Hunter Rise is the first main installment in the series since 2018's Monster Hunter World, with Rise boasting the ability for players to effortlessly scale up mountains and leap across the landscape as they contend with a new uprising of ravenous behemoths. Wings of Ruin is an RPG spinoff set in the world of Monster Hunter, with the upcoming game including cross-compatibility features for players who also have Rise.

With Monster Hunter Rise slated for a March 2021 release and Wings of Ruin expected to be released next summer, Capcom teased that it would provide more details about both games at next week's Tokyo Game Show, including the video game publisher's spotlight panel on Sept. 26.

Developed and published by Capcom, Monster Hunter Rise will be released for the Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will be released for the Switch Summer 2021.
